I wasn't expecting or demanding anything, again you're putting words into people's mouths to try and force through a point that isn't there. I imagine you've just read something about playing more songs fom The Bends and thought "right, I'll have this c**t". I questioned the motivation and expected result of adding Creep to the setlist and said if (IF) the goal was to placate those who wanted older stuff after a poor reception at Leeds it didn't really work and could have been better achieved another way. Yes I would have liked it but also said that they don't design a set list for people like me, so wouldn't expect it. And no I wasn't really still interested in OK Computer in 2009, sorry if that shatters your stereotype of the fake/undeserving/unworthy ex-Radiohead fans who only like Creep/The Bends/OK Computer. I don't rally care for Creep (although Pablo Honey is a good record) and I bored of OK Computer after a couple of years. Not sure if that makes me a better or worse person, but I've accepted that I'm still going to hell for it.

I doubt very much they played Creep to placate the crowd. I imagine the setlists were planned long ago. I cant imagine they gave a shiney shite that the spotty herberts in the Leeds crowd were upset at the perceived lack of older material.

Fact remains at every radiohead gig I've ever been to you get whoppers calling for creep in e very gap, and every time you read comments about every gig since the 90s there are people complaining there wasnt enough bends/ok computer.

I just cannot fathom that mindset. It's not like all their output since OK Computer is crap

So long as radiohead keep releasing albums, their gigs are always going to favour the more recent stuff, and why wouldnt it?

A lot of people of a certain age are stuck in a 1990s timewarp.

Well the opinion on their output since OK cumputer is subjective. I don't like it which is why I don't enjoy their set lists (string me up from Traitors' gate), but I'm not stupid enough to expect them to continue to play older songs just for people like me. If I'd have said "Radiohead are shit and so are their gigs, they should play loads of stuff from The Bends" then fair enough, but I didn't say that.

The original point that I responded to was that their Leeds set was poorly-received and it was no wonder that they opened with Creep the next day. If you don't think the two were connected then fair enough, but as that was the original point that was what I was discussing (which is again why I said 'if' in my original post); whether that was the case, whether it worked and whether it could have been achieved another way.

If you're generally unhappy with the attitude of people who do expect them to play older stuff then that's understandable, but don't use me as a basis for your rants when I didn't express that opinion.

i absolutely loved their set at Leeds but, as i watched from the mid-way barrier, i saw the crowd get increasingly smaller and smaller throughout the set which was saddening. some of my friends left and it was because they didn't recognize any of the songs - they wanted Creep, they wanted Karma Police, they wanted the singles, so them filling the first half of their set with considerably slower, not as well known to the casual fan songs didn't help. when i saw the Reading setlist i knew immediately that it definitely would've been better received. but f*ck it, to a diehard fan, the Leeds setlist was fantastic. they played songs i never thought they would (A Wolf At The Door, (Nice Dream), Videotape, Morning Bell) and opened with three of my favorites (15 Step, Airbag, Lucky - wow)

if they DO headline Glastonbury this year, i imagine it'll be more leaning towards a greatest hits set - at least, the closest to a greatest hits set you could expect from Radiohead. King Of Limbs has been out for two years now, and they already played the majority of it in their secret set, so whilst i think they'd still play quite a few songs from it, i imagine the set would be less King Of Limbs heavy than their more recent shows

yeah that looks about right. take out a couple of King Of Limbs songs and replace them with maybe Karma Police or another 'big single' and it'd go down a treat. i'm so glad that Radiohead live never turned into a singles act - the likes of Foo Fighters or RHCP where their setlists are just all of their singles plus a couple of new album tracks. predictable and boring!

Yeah I can see that if you're a massive Radiohead fan their gigs would be pretty special for that reason.

Although I think you're being a bit hard on the Foos, although they generally play 12-15 of the same songs every show they do mix it up a bit during tours and swap round some rarer/album tracks and covers, and at Reading last year they played several songs from early albums that they haven't done for 10+ years and probably won't again.

And if you'd seen RHCP at Reading in '07 you'd have been begging for hits. It may not be cool but it's better than an hour of bass funk jam w*nkery.

well tbh i would absolutely love them to play Fake Plastic Trees. was devastated when i saw them at Leeds and it'd seemed like they'd retired it from their set. if it'll happen anywhere though, it'll be Glastonbury (i'm saying this now as if they've been confirmed to play - must not get hopes up!)

they were just two bands who's setlists i remember looking over and thinking 'f*cking hell they look dull / samey'

i was unfortunate enough to see RHCP at Leeds and yeah, that was just an abortion of a set. i don't know what they were thinking. all of the worst songs from their current album, plus an abundance of missing hits. never have i fallen so out of love with a band so quickly

The thing about Radiohead is they evolve as a band with every album, their sound changes, their influences change, hell everything about them changes, hence so many people like the old stuff, so many like the new stuff & people like me love it all! But when they tour their latest output, they kinda fit the sets around their "sound of time" when picking out the old songs to play. That's at least how I see it anyway. Either way, they're one of the bast bands I've had the privilege to see live.

Bands like Foo Fighters don't have that problem, because everything they release sounds the same anyway.

    • Regarding PinkPantheress: I watched the ending of The Cure from the back and then bolted straight to Cupra to save spots on the steps for my entire festival crew. Thus, we all had a good experience there. Sucks that not everybody got to properly see it, but it felt like something out of Glastonbury where those who showed up long in advance got to see a big artist on a smaller stage in good conditions.
    • Cracking debut album earlier this year
    • TOP 10 acts (top 5 in bold😞   Blood Orange (ciutat)   Guitarricadelafuente   Oklou - Looks like I'm capable of enjoying music in the rain after all, just not the whole night.   Rilo Kiley   The Cure   Jade   Depresión Sonora   Gelli Haha (Parc del Forum) - Her music never really clicked with me. Until I saw her live.   MARINA   Six Sex (ciutat) - I was shocked how supersmall the venue was and that almost everyone (except for me) knew every word of every song (including the ones that were released this weekend!).   Honorable mention:   Ashnikko - missed the first 15 minutes (because of Gelli Haha) and I'm not really a fan of her music, but the show was an absolute blast.
    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
