No. Never heard of that one. The box set is made of individual tracks really, outtakes, different versions etc. A little annoying at times in truth as you listen to an 8 minute master and then the next song is the 9 minute outtake - pretty much the same song.

I only have the "First time" Count Basie/Duke Ellington album which is more orchestra based. A little cluttered for my tastes.

Did they not only do this one album together?

I'm usually pretty good with new music but thanks to the joy of both 'That's Entertainment' in Manchester and the Zoverstocks shop on Amazon I've spent the last year tying up the loose ends in my CD collection and have properly got into loads of bands who I never really gave the time of day before. Most notably:

Led Zeppelin (only ever listened to a best of compilation)

Bob Dylan (only really listened to Blonde on Blonde)

Sugar

Belly

Brakes

Secret Machines

Slowdive

Pre-Document R.E.M

Six By Seven

My Vitriol

Darkstar

Mansun (Six is a masterpiece)

When you can get 3 CDs for a fiver and there's loads of stuff you sort of know about but have never really listened to, you can't go wrong.

Always loved MuteMath, but haven't been listening for a while.. too bad they're not really well known in Europe, and they just refuse to get their asses over here..!

They do have 3 really solid albums..

I could really see them do the John Peel stage some day.. would love that!

House of Love were a damn good band, could have been really massive. That first album is beautiful. I love Bickers' other great band too, Levitation.

Not really just discovered, but I hadn't known that Hype Williams/Dean Blunt & Inga Copeland released an album (Black is Beautiful) earlier this year. Been really getting into it this week, very very good. Maybe not the heights of the Kelly Price W8 Gain vol II e.p, but still magic.

Two albums that I'm really enjoying at the moment, with some similarities

North Sea Scrolls - this is a collaboration between Luke Haines (The Auteurs, Black Box Recorder etc etc), Cathal Coughlan (Fatima Mansions, Micrpdisney) and Andrew Mueller.

Underture 1612 - Really ace mixture of sort of electronica with Maxine Peake doing some spoken word stuff about Lancashire folklore over the top

Both really engrossing albums, not stuff that will instantly grab you, and definitely albums, not singles (that's why I've not posted YouTube links).

    • I am very possibly wrong about this but I do think that the pitch you get allocated appears to be related to your time of arrival, (i.e. you get the next one available) rather than the price you paid for a small, medium or large pitch.  They all appear to be the same size to me.

    • Liddle: "Drop a small nuclear bomb on Glastonbury to immediately remove from our country almost everybody who is hugely annoying.”   Farage: Free speech!    Polanski: accepts a collaboration on 20 innocuous looking set of photos on instagram but doesn't notice that one that says 'making plans for Nigel' with a guillotine image.   Farage: I expect the MET police to arrest him.
    • I take my lad to the local non-league club - Royston Town - not he's 13, he goes there with his mates and he plays in their youth team.  Not many people there - lucky if they hit 800, but lovely supporting the town team.  I've took him to some league clubs too - Cambridge and Stevenage are great to visit and not crazy prices - his first one was Cambridge v Sunderland (I'm a mackem) when they were in league 1, so a great experience for him.  The England matches aren't too bad value either at Wembley - it's just the parking that stings you. Problem is, he's a City fan, so at some point have to bite the bullet and get him up to the Ethiad. Have done the tour, but he'd love a proper game....my wallet, less so!
    • Said it before, but if Annie Lennox is available next year, then it would be an absolute crime to instead book anyone else. She's rare and legendary enough that you drop all other plans.
