I saw someone post on Twitter that Barrett has said this contract is his last and then he's going to retire, anyone else seen that?

there was a point on one of the live shows where he announced he was 'retiring' and put over adrian neville, then the next second bullhammer elbowed him.

so no idea if its legitimate or not, but it could be plausible depending on the injuries he has already had.

That just made me wish I went now, I was gonna buy tixs as a Xmas presents for my baby brothers who are wrestling mad at the moment but Raw was sold out and I figured nothing good ever happens on Smackdown now a days so there's no point.

They were a bunch of people who have a comedy show on youtube apparently.

In other news.

EXCELLENT news

Taz is gone from TNA.

Now maybe we will get a good team on there, Matthews is very good IMO, Tenay could come back but only if they make it a 3 man team with someone else.

They want to push him as a heel because that's what he's best at. A phrase putting him over as a face is completely counterproductive and they are correct to want him to stop using it. They did the same with Daniel Bryan when he was doing the "NO!" thing, except I don't think they were as sure with him, so they sort of just used the phrase, just in a different way to see what happened.

It's absolutely the right decision in Barrett's case though. He's a shit babyface.

Agree with that, I hate it when people try to become "cool heels" and feel that catchphrases only help with that. I don't think WWE are doing anything to hold Barrett back, while he has had a stop/start career they have never buried him.

Great interview with Regal on the Jericho podcast. The most interesting part for me was how he said he would look at an audience and would make a decision how much wrestling and how much entertainment spots to include in the match depending on the amount of woman and children in the audience, he also said that Eddie Guerro would do the same purely by listening from backstage. I wonder if this is something that some of the superstars today could learn from. At times I feel some are so focused on workrate and impressings the hardcore fans, that they forget the fun aspect which could allow them to connect better with the more casual fans.

thing is with barrett... why not just let him do what he was doing.

really feel the need for a heel/face thing should be in the past. especially when you get people cheering heels just for the hell of it (smark behaviour)

tread the fine line between the two if needs be, so long as it doesn't keep switching week on week (unless split personality and inner turmoil or something).

not barrett specifically in this sense but here are some who would probably benefit from this, keeping the interaction going, blurring the lines on "oh they're a face and so am I so therefore I must be all good with them", sod that, be a face (or heel) with tendencies towards the opposite with certain people. try to draw in the crowd a bit better as honestly it just doesn't work from time to time.

it wasn't putting him over as a face outright, but it was making the crowd connect with him however which is surely what they want with any performer.

just me rambling on a bit...

It's quite obvious that in recent years Extreme Rules is just a pointless PPV. Nothing really dramatic happens that anyone cares about story line wise and the results are often obvious due to it being the event after Mania.

However the stipulations are the only thing that make it watchable and even they are questionable this year.

Pretty much but it's the PPV after 'mania so anything massive would of happened then (apart from maybe Lesnar's first match back) so making it full of gimmicks is probably the best thing they can do.

To me one of the problems with the PPV is that the headline match was the 4th or 5th most hyped match at the last PPV. I like Rollins and Orton and am sure they will have a good match, but it feels a bit underwhelming to me.

Have just finished the Monday night wars on the network. I generally enjoyed (if you can look past the obvious bias) but felt the series was a bit bloated and could have been chopped in half easily.

Im also going through the ppvs in chronological order. WCW are in a run of dreadful ppvs, I think haloween havoc 99 is the worst one yet. Hogan randomly laying down for Sting, while Brett Hart had the worst match I have seen against Luger and apparently submits for the first time in a complete filler match.
