Headliner announced: WHAT A DISAPPOINTING HEADLINER. I CAN'T BELIEVE AFTER ALL THIS WE GOT BLINK 182. HOW MUCH OF A KANYE IS MELVIN.

No headliner announced: UGH, HOW STUPID OF R&L NOT TO ANNOUNCE A HEADLINER. THIS IS UNFAIR WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO STAY GUESSING TIL MARCH. MELV IS SUCH A KANYE.

The last two announcements (at least) Efestivals has had the acts who are to be announced later that day as (TBC) in the rumors section.

Is that something we can no longer expect with R&L apparently shutting down leaked info?

There was no leak for the December announcement last year either, and efestivals didn't (publicly) have anyone down to be announced. Maybe it's too far before the festival to get information.

The leaks did come later (efestivals had Biffy and suggested at Green Day but not enough to have them as TBC), while Matt_Davies found a way to access the press releases and Brand New posted some of the line-up on facebook on announcement day.

But yeah both Neil and Scottie have said that information has generally been harder to come by for R&L. They definitely had more success before this year's festival.

I hope BRMC do something... NME headliners would be the nuts

No way in hell would they headline the NME.

And as someone else pointed out the last two times they've done European festivals in August (the last two album tours) R&L hasn't booked them, so I don't see why they would for next year.

ok makes sence. Its just that in the time i have been on the forum/knew it existed they have had this info. I wasnt sure if it was a regular thing or as it seems to have been a lucky break last year... Which is a shame

Yeah it's always been a regular thing until this year, for whatever reason (possibly deliberately) info just doesn't seem to be getting out as much, or at least of the same quality or that efests feel comfortable releasing.

Efestivals may well know exactly who is headlining next year, but if only a few people know the info and publicising it would reveal their source they won't do it.

I think tonight's announcement will be bigger than last years first. Last year they just released them on twitter at noon rather than having Zane Lowe announce them at 7 o'clock.

Either way I'm extremely nervous haha.

It was just as big a deal as usual, just that it was on Fern Cotton's show during the day instead of Zane's at night.

Wouldn't that make it less of a deal though?

I mean, I'd imagine a lot more people would be tuning in at 7 at night rather than at noon what with work and college and school.

Yeah possibly, what I meant is that they still made a big deal of it on the radio rather than it just being on twitter like you said.

You're right that it may have meant that fewer people heard it, although given that a lot of people rely on twitter/facebook now anyway maybe they didn't think it really mattered.

There was never any concrete reason why it was on Fern's show rather than Zane's, I think the theory was that as well as the first bands they were announcing what the new stages were and they thought that people listening to Fern would be a better target for dance and hip hop/grime/whatever than Zane's listeners. Seems pretty spurious though.

I think I also remember that a headliner was supposed to be in the first announcement but that got delayed (I'm sure they apologised on twitter or facebook for it) for some reason, which is why Eminem got announced a week or two later on Zane's show.

I'm pretty certain Zane was away for one, if not two of the announcements of this year's (2013) fests.

I'm sure the main announcement was announced on zanes show by someone else who said we will get it over with quickly and announced it at about 7:10
