Why do The Cribs have a shorter set than almost every other act playing? And why is there no gap between most of the bands?

I have no idea but I think most acts will have a short set (expect for those with gaps between them) so The Cribs will probably get the same size and I think late night acts get far more. Still looking forward to it though :)

Saw No Devoition tonight. It would be nice to see them added

Did they play any Lostprophets songs. I know they're trying to distance themselves from it but it would be a waste of some decent material.

I think there'd still be too much negativity (wrongly) attached to them for a festival crowd right now. Next year possibly, although this year would have been impossible anyway.

There seems to be a lot of positivity towards them really, most people think it is good that they're distancing themselves from Lostprophets and starting to make music again. There are still a lot of people that don't know that they formed a new band and most people would only recognise Ian in Lostprophets (both before and after the "incident") and those that don't probably know what No Devotion are about.

This probably made no sense but I know what I'm thinking and I think that they would have been a good booking

Yeah what Yellow said but I'll add they've actually said they never will - do you not think Lostprophets and everything associated with that band is a little tainted now?

I think you'd have to be a little deluded to think there would be nothing but positivity towards them from a festival crowd. There are people that took on board the accusations that they were told of the abuse and never said anything.

Never said that.

There was a lot of people who liked the fact that they were still making music despite what had happened and even though there are people who think they knew about Ian did they don't appear to be in the majority (from what I have seen) but there are still people there though never the less. So them coming back would be met up 100% positivity but I'd still think they would have been a good booking and I could see them playing next year easily low on the NME

While I don't think there'd be 100% positivity the only negative comments I've seen have been about the music although I'm sure there are a few who believe they knew about the crimes. Plus as long as they could put up with one or two heckled from the crowd - surely the exposure would be better than not playing?

    • Yep, honestly this seems like the most likely option right now.
    • Agree. Also there was a lot more crossing over between stages. I know they need to put the cure, the xx and Gorillaz on the main stages but if they could have put your Blood Orange, Big Thief, Baxter Dury on Cupra and Occident with Jade and Pinkpantheress on the main stages, it would have been a massive improvement.
    • 100% THIS! I haven't quite been able to put my finger on it, but I think you've just nailed why I didn't enjoy this year as much as usual. In last years edition, the likes of Slowdive or Big Thief would have had evening slots at Cupra or Occident, instead of being shoved on to the main stages during the day. Apart from the very biggest acts (ie The Cure, the pop headliners), most performances at Mordor just lack that special "wow, I'm so lucky to be here" feeling that I remember from the Jesus Lizard and Anhoni sets that you've mentioned.  Sidenote: I wonder if there's a decent chunk of ticket holders that gravitate towards Mordor simply because it's the biggest stage, without really caring who's playing at that time, thus the increased (and incredibly noticeable) yapping.
    • Some horrible talkers around me as well for that one. Plus the mobile beer taps pressing through almost all the way to the front, which really should be illegal.
