And despite it being R&L, surely they're far too big to headline NME? They would have to at least play third on main, because I can see them headlining Download next year if they play R&L this year, you don't put a probable Download headliner on NME

They subbed last time they played R+L but apparently it was a very low turnout to see them, and i cant see them filling out the tent at R+L. In regard to the download headline possibility, Faith No More headlined download in the same year they headlined the NME stage. So i dont think it's out of the question. My main query is the Biffy clash.

I doubt NIN and Biffy have that huge a crossover in fanbase. Also, while fans complain about clashes, organisers want to split the crowd so there's not a massive crush anywhere. NIN on the mainstage would get a larger crowd than on the NME stage, as they'd have more people wandering over to 'check them out'.

FNM did headline the NME tent the same year as DL mainstage, and get a small crowd, however's it's worth remembering that FNM weren't announced until after DL had happened, and R+L had sold out, so their own fans wouldn't really have got much opportunity to buy a ticket to the festival based on that.

Regardless, I'm still refusing to believe in NIN being anywhere in the UK until it's announced.

There was an article a few days ago where FOB claimed to be "Surprised anyone cared" about the reunion. They were being quite self depreciating, and whether that was a publicity stunt or what I don't know, but it points towards a 3rd/ 4th slot maximum. Assuming of course that their position was booked at the same time they were, which I would think is the case.

FOB have been self-depreciating for as long as I've been a hardcore fan, it seems part of their schtick. during their live DVD Pete 'honestly can't play to save his own life' Wentz makes several comments that put himself and the band down. Whether that was the 'trend' at the time, I'm not sure, and I don't really care to remember.

On the subject of NIN, I'm gonna cling to the fact Phoenix have to play the Sunday at Reading, and I see them headlining/subbing the NME tent, and I can't see them subbing to NIN.

Also the guy who originally posted on here that they're playing has said he believes they're subbing.

On a different topic, I saw The Joy Formidable last night. They absolutely smashed it. Had a brilliant support act as well, called Kill It Kid. The Joy Formidable were asked about Leeds and spent 5 minutes talking about the festival, whilst saying "We'll definitely be in a field in the Summer". Take from that what you will.
