The problem with Hyde Park was the noise restrictions I would think that would be the same most places around London. I have never been to MK but I have heard great things about the venue. Regardless of what the town is like.

Gaslight look far too low. They would sub the nme tent at least if they played again. I think Avenge Sevenfold would play third as well. Other than that I like it

Headlining Rock Werchter next year, i know that's not in this country but all depends on how the next album goes down, if it's number one and they get a good single then i can definitely see them playing 3rd

Black Sabbath are a strong rumour and the rest is just the usual names being thrown around Blur, Killers etc.

Rob da bank says they're in the states during bestival, which is only two weeks after Reading, whilst logistically its possible it would mean that the bestival weekend would have to be their first dates out there and most bands prefer more than a two week gap between touring europe and touring america.

The 02 show is also 'meant' to be their only UK show for this year

Neil did say on a thread in the Glastonbury forum that he thinks they'll do a UK festival and that Bestival and R&L are the only realistic possibilities. Now that Bestival's ruled out, if they're doing any festival it seems likely to be R&L. Couldn't see it being both them and Sabbath though.

Just seen that Live Nation have pulled out of Hyde park

my take on things is that the process isn't over yet. I expect the tendering process to get revised, and Live Nation to get back into the bidding. I'm pretty sure that their public statement is part of a game of chicken with The Royal Parks.

But there's nothing which says that LN can't take their own events to another site if they don't have Hyde Park.

Depeche Mode wouldn't headline full stop, even if Sabbath weren't playing.

People were saying similar things about The Cure (me included) - so off the back of that I'm stopping short of dismissing the chances of Depeche Mode headlining R/L.

I'd put my neck on the line and say they wouldn't headline R+L also. They deserve to, but I mean if they're not headlining festivals on the continent - where they're bigger than they are in the UK - they damn sure won't headline R+L.
