in the tech industry, you are dealing 99% of the time with nerds. and nerds love pretty ladies. deal with it.

bike shows are the same, so are car shows.

walk around any department store, how many blokes are working on chanel/clinique etc - not very many. beauty sells, sex sells, and until someone comes up with an alternative (but equally successful) method of making their product sexy, thats what we are gonna get.

Yea, I would like to think that it has no bearing on my consumer decisions either. There is always the subliminal effect of advertising though.

there's an amusing story in this week's Private Eye, about how the head of the Advertising Association (or something like that, a trade body for advertisers) told parliament that there's no need to ban ads for junk food targetted at kids because they don't have any effect.

Which rather begs the question why companys spends billions targetting ads at kids.

So advertisers obviously think that advertising is so good that they can advertise a load of bollocks at MPs and the MPs will buy it despite everything about it being contrary to the very obvious facts - THAT'S how effective advertising is in reality.

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
