Don't suppose there's any likliehood of a pre-sale? Or is it all one mad panic on Friday morning?

I am in 2 minds about this- really want to go as they are one of my favourite bands but not sure what kind of idiots could be in attendance!

Most bands that reform (including the Roses) should have the self-respect and decency to recognise that they've had their day and that the dignified thing to do is to fade into history...apart from lining their pockets, what can they possibly do that is new, relevant or interesting? I can think of very few bands that have reformed and gone on to do anything that is more than a pale reflection fo their former glory....

I say this as someone who thinks the first Roses album is a stone classic

well as it's just up the road, i'll chance my arm for a ticket or 4.

saw them 2 times circa 2nd coming - good events, not really that great performances.

but it beats what i had planned for that weekend next june - sitting at home crying over Glasto clips on Youtube. wink.png

it's only a gig after all.

I had tickets to the Birmingham Bingley hall gig for The Jam (March 82) ... and sold them in the queue outside (mate and I paid £5 ea for the tickets and sold them for £65 ea - back when £65 was lot of money). Turned out to be their last tour :(

I'd just turned 15 at the time and it taught me the valuable lesson that money is just money. Memorable gigs and epic occasions are worth so much more than just money.

The fact that they are giving me the chance to see these songs played by the original lineup, thats interesting enough for me. I was 7 when the first album came out and didnt go to my first gig till I was 16 so the chance to see them live passed me by as it probably did for alot of people around my age. I dont care if it is for money, everyone, including musicians have bills to pay (including impending divorces), just as long as Brown sorts his voice out and the band are tight then I cant wait, if they blow me away it will be as good as I imagined when I first got into them.

One down, two to go, I hope The Jam and The Smiths are keeping a close eye on proceedings.

Do we reckon the Friday Heaton Park date will be the first, or will it be like Blur's comeback where Hyde Park went on sale and then a dozen other shows were announced beforehand? I notice the wording "The dates will form part of an extensive world tour." doesn't specify that they'll be the start of the extensive tour... I'm only gonna travel up to Manchester if that's the first date!

the tickets for the two heaton park gigs go on sale on Friday morning at 9.30. in 1 paper on line its saying the tickets are around the 50pound mark.

there saying the heaton park gigs are going to be "super shows" im guessing like oasis tried to do a few years ago.

the under card should be very interesting to find out, im guessing there going to want at least one other Manchester band subbing for them my thoughts maybe the courteeners maybe even elbow. that would be very special.

The Stone Roses and the whole Madchester and rave scene were my coming of age era and I hold them in high regard but christ on a bike Ian Brown sounds shit more often than not live and although I'm excited at the thought of some new material and my heart is saying go and see them, my head is screaming DON'T DO IT!

If by some small chance they come to York or Leeds, I may risk shattering some very special memories!
