The thing is even if rooney wants a move or fergie wants rid of him, there isnt many options for him. I dont think barca or real would take him and to be honest I think rooney is the type of player who would never settle abroad. Your probably only then left with city and chelsea. Would man u sell to a title rival? that would be madness. Would rooney go to a team not guaranteed champions league, I suspect not. I think theres no chance him leaving in this window.

Could Spurs afford his wages? Italy? Bayern? Porto even? Got to remember, effective wages in Portugal are cheaper due to tax rates.

I agree that it's unlikely he'd settle abroad, but I wouldn't be amazed at him trying.

Anyone know anything about his agent?

Liverpool have been thrust into another race hate row, after a fan was arrested on suspicion of racially abusing Oldham player Tom Adeyemi.

The incident occurred towards the end of the FA Cup tie, when a fan screamed abuse at the young full back, and visibly upset, he turned to confront the man.

Adeyemi was visibly upset, and seemed to be in tears. Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard moved across to the corner of the ground where the incident occurred, and comforted the 20 year old.

Eye witnesses saw two fans wearing Luis Suarez t-shirts, and heard one of them clearly shout "You f***ing black b***ard".

Police immediately moved in to restrain the two suspects, and later confirmed arrests had been made.

A senior Liverpool figure explained afterwards that stewards were immediately on the scene, and he said: "We will do everything in our power to investigate the matter and ensure the appropriate action is taken."

The incident could not have come at a worst time for the club, following the controversy that has raged over the Suarez affair, who was banned for eight matches for racist abuse of Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

The FA are now sure to investigate, and Liverpool could face sanctions for failing to control their supporters.

Im not sure what liverpool have done wrong here, it sounds like their fans have acted like scumbags and they have taken appropriate action. Theres only so much a club can do to stop fans acting like idiots, I guarantee every football club has racist idiots amongst their fans.

I think he is paid 3 times the top spurs player. Im not sure any of those clubs could afford the transfer fee and wages. I would be surprised if he isnt a man utd player this time next year.

Italian clubs pay such wages (even if they can't afford them), I reckon Porto would be able to do a swap deal to cover the transfer fee, Bayern could do similar if they wanted him, and certainly pay high wages.

While I agree that tribalism has been a huge problem here, in my opinion the attitude of some man utd, using it purely as an opportunity to attack Liverpool, has contributed to a poisonous atmosphere just as.much as the Liverpool fans who blindly assume his innocence because he is a good footballer in a Liverpool top

I don't believe Liverpool are soft on racism and this talk.that they will blame the oldham player is mischievous troublemaking. If guilty I'm sure that man will never set foot in anfield again and rightfully so. There's too much point scoring going on for me and its just making the situation worse.

If the reports are true then its quite probable that if Liverpool had handled the situation better, yesterdays incident would not have happened. However any man willing to say this, probable needs little excuse to act like a racist scumbag. Any idea that liverpools handling of Suarez/evra has created a whole breed of racist Liverpool fans is stupid.

What really struck me about the whole thing was how anyone with even a modicum of intelligence seeing what was going on would think that there was a chance he had been racially abused, his anger and upset were plain to see. So, armed with that knowledge, what would you do the next time he touched the ball? Boo him as loud as you can? That's what thousands of Liverpool fans did. Utterly utterly brain dead and moronic.

Strummer, I know you don't like to hear anything negative about your club, but are you seriously saying that the way the club have conducted themselves through this whole saga hasn't contributed to what happened last night? Throughout they have projected an attitude that suggests (well to me at least) that despite the gravity of the alegations, they didn't really take them that seriously. Yes the guy that shouted the abuse last night was clearly an idiot who's views have no place in modern society, but he clearly felt that the "everyone is against us" mentality that Liverpool have whipped up allowed him to say what he did. Had the club acted differently through all this, then last nights incident wouldn't have happened.
