2013 Headliners

Official interview with MB at Reading when said Michael thinks he can get them for Glasto, MB said I think he's wrong before ruling them out of R&L himself. The could be IOW exclusive next year.

Ah okay, cheers! Seems like they must be an IOW exclusive with their own shows that summer.

IoW tends to not have exclusives, and IoW as a rule doesn't have a problem sharing its headliners with Glasto. If Glasto doesn't have them then I think it's probably unlikely that IoW does either.

If Melvin knows anything then I'd guess he knows that Live Nation are aiming at getting them for some Hyde Park shows on an exclusive basis. There's not really anywhere else in the UK for them to play on an exclusive basis unless Reading/Leeds has them (which Melvin supposedly said they don't).

MB hasn't got a reason to say that about The Roses at Glasto unless he has enough info

It's got heaps and heaps and heaps of reasons. And more reasons now his Glasto involvement has ended.

In my experience Melvin never says anything like that just for saying it. There's always a very good reason in his mind for why he's saying it.

The reason I think Radiohead are unlikely is that they're touring The King Of Limbs at the moment, which didn't go down very well with the audience on the Park Stage, let alone on the Pyramid. I'd love them to do it, but I think they may be put off at how it was recieved last year.

The Who and Arctic Monkeys are good shouts too, though AM depends on whether they have a new album out by then in my opinion.

I saw Morrissey instead, but I got that from various reviews when I got back in 2011! :sarcastic:Like this one from the Guardian which says ,"How well did the King of Limbs go down with the crowd? Not brilliantly" and said that it was purely because the people there wanted a hits set/it was raining.

My mistake then, I was informed people weren't impressed with the secret set because of it being TKOL heavy!

Anyone noticed Rolling Stones songs featuring in a couple of high profile tv adverts. One for sky sports and another for a watch company was never off during the olympics. Is their well oiled publicity machine kicking in for next summer already ??? Could be coincidence of course or maybe they need the money :sarcastic: I`m going Arcade Fire Friday, Gaga Saturday with the Stones finishing things off. Stone Roses for me will be 2014.

Doubt the Stones could be arsed touring the world ( again ) so I`m guessing they will do Glasto and then announce things like 20 nights on the bounce at places like O2 and Madison Sq Garden etc ( live on Sky box office pay per view ). Would like to see Biffy on before them ( surely they will be a T headliner next year ). Think they have supported the Stones before on American tour dates.

The vast majority of people who were on the hill when Radiohead came on stage left before the end of the 2nd song, they only wanted to say "I saw Radiohead" rather than actually see radiohead, it seemed. It was a bizarre experience to be there and enjoy BAD, then see the place fill up so much, then empty so fast. I have no idea what everyone was hoping for, maybe that they would open with creep, then karma police, etc...

I really enjoyed what I saw of the set (I left halfway myself, as I'd promised the kids I'd go with them to see the mumfords) and the youtube footage compiled from mobile phones demonstrates it was a really good gig.

Could someone please explain to me the Daft Punk obsession that's been knocking around this forum for many years now? I admit I don't know THAT much about them, so I may sound a little ignorant, but as I remember, they have released 2(or3??) studio albums none of which have been this side of 2005/6? I cannot see where they fit into a Glastonbury headline slot (well, certainly not a pyramid) here in 2012, with so many other acts which are more current and arguably "bigger". I note the point someone else has made in a previous post, that they probably have't achieved anything more than The Chemical Brothers or Orbital in this genre, and they have managed Other Stage headliners as a more realistic slot.

I just don't get the "they have to headline" theory I guess.

My prediction at the moment is...

FRIDAY

Lady Gaga

The Black Keys

Suede

SATURDAY

Arcade Fire (If Rolling Stones play, chuck em here with Arcade Fire subbing)

Biffy Clyro

Daft Punk

SUNDAY

Radiohead (Though this for me is unlikely)

Jack White

Tinie Tempah

Of course this will be completely wrong, but ah well!

It's due to a lot of optimistic people, really, just chomping at the bit to see them. Whilst I love daft punk, I don't think they'll play. Last time they played wireless, rockness so took the money.

Most people want to see them due to their live album from the last tour, alive 07, which indicated that even after releasing their most disappointing album, they were still a fantastic live act. If your curious just look it up on YouTube, the whole concert is on there.

To summarise, it's a bit of festival maths since dance acts often headline the other stage, the album is apparently out in march, and they haven't been around for almost 5 years.
