i get the feeling you could be right but by Unexpected I dont think it will be anyone special, it will be someone that everyone will go "err,ok..why them"

Theres an interesting point that if we really are down to bare bones then they could be throwing money at anyone that inst doing anything this summer but could come out and play 1 show.

  • Muse (I know they played so soon but new album and could easily fit the bill and go down well)
  • Florence
  • Adell
  • Dre and Snoop (went down a storm at coachella and snoop is playing dates around glastonbury)
  • Kayne (got to be considered now but I still dont see it, could be some many more acts they could ask before that cock)
  • Arcade fire (Emily said they wasnt playing but we know that was before they had a 3rd headliner sorted. As long as the pregnant one has had her child im sure they could play one gig)
  • Lady Gaga (could have given assurances that she will be ok to play, would be huge as it would end up being one of her only shows this summer)

So Neil you personally believe somebody other than Mumfords is headlining?

I know a lot of people on here are against them. But I think they would actually be a half decent booking.

stuff that I've got to hear strongly suggests to me that Mumfords aren't headlining the Sunday, but it's always possible that i've added up 2+2 to equal five.

Me thinking they're not headlining is nothing to do with me thinking they're not a suitable headline act - they clearly are (but not my tastes).

Neil wrote in another thread that legal action had been threatened against someone who revealed were they were playing. And that was only a very low down spot IIRC.

Not quite.

I said members of a band genuinely think they've been threatened with legal action - but I also realise that might just be how their manager put it to them to get them to keep their gobs shut.

However, there is very definitely a new way of doing things. Secrecy is being impressed onto people in a way that it hasn't been in the past.

Somebody on the Reggae stage I think Neil said it was

no I didn't. I didn't name the band, or give any clues which might help identify them.

do you think you know who the sunday headliner is...

How many bleeding times?

No I don't.

The best fit rumour from many angles if Mumfords, but there's other stuff which makes me think it's not them. If it is them then other acts - which many people would consider lesser acts (if they put their Mumfords hatred to the side) - were offered the slot before them.

I dunno. personally, yeah, I'd like it to remain secret until we arrive, but realistically that's not going to happen, and for the majority of people, they want the lineup in advance. So, that's cool. But I'm hopeful we get a massive release of pretty much the whole lineup at once in say, late April. Much rather have some blast of excitement rather than names dribbling out slowly.

Knowing in advance gives you the option of trying before you buy with regards to acts you've never heard of before. It helps gives you a steer regards what stages to be at and when and helps you avoid timewasting standing waiting for something that won't be to your palate. People are maybe more inclined to try out some of the smaller stages if they've heard some of the acts in advance.

    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
    • Any of the likes of Keo, Basht. and Cardinals could all fit in here.  Although they’re the sort of bands that could fit many of the stages at Glastonbury
    • Glasto loves a come back act - how about the Rapture?
    • Yeah mentioned in the park thread but feel more Woodsies to me
    • New Modest Mouse Album is out
