If you needed convincing of the quality and reliability of the Star's reporting, here's former reporter Richard Peppiatt:

"Kelly Brook... said: "There was a story that I'd seen a hypnotherapist to help me cut down on the time I take to get ready to go out. Where do they [journalists] get it from?"

Peppiatt wrote: "Maybe I should answer that one. I made it up. Not that it was my choice: I was told to." He said he had "plucked" the story about Brook's experimentation with hypnotherapy from his imagination, adding: "Not that it was all bad. I pocketed a £150 bonus."

In a list of "my other earth-shattering exclusives" for the Star, Peppiatt recalls producing articles about Michael Jackson, the pop star Robbie Williams and Katie Price which he said had no factual basis.

He also admits making up a story suggesting that Matt Lucas was on suicide watch following the death of the comedian's former civil partner."

Whilst you're here neil...

anything on the third headliner?

yep. It's very probably not Prince. :)

If it is Prince then Glasto went from losing their pencilled in headliner (Fleetwood mac) to trying to fill the slot with bands who would be dubious headliners in many people's eyes, to then going to get Prince who'd fucked them about something rotten last time and where they aren't likely to feel there's someone trustworthy they can deal with about Prince.

So while anything is possible in my mind until such time as I feel i've got the 3rd headliner nailed, Prince is one of the least likely possibilities going of all the names that it might be.

I wonder if Depeche Mode is at all possible.

Looking at their tourdates they are free on the Sunday but it means getting back from Ukraine (certainly do-able). They then have a couple of days off before going on to Germany.

Bestival could have them but that seems doubtful.

Fancy dropping any hints... or are you being sworn to secrecy. AT LEAST GIVE A HINT.

I can't give you a hint cos I haven't got one.

The most regular and most-making-sense rumour is Mumfords, but I have difficulty believing they're headlining for the reasons I've given before.

So Neil you personally believe somebody other than Mumfords is headlining?

I know a lot of people on here are against them. But I think they would actually be a half decent booking. Good for the youth crowd, massive in other countries (festival profile) and have played Glasto plenty before - so have a relationship with the festival. There's a lot worse options out there. They are also headling T in the Park, which is pretty massive.

(While we are on it I also think Florence ticks all theses boxes too and expect her to headline on her third album. She would be a push now, but she isn't far off)

Maybe start a cliff conspiracy thread see and see how's long it lasts. It must be him as he likes tennis and eavis has been dropping hints for 6 months by wearing tennis shorts in every photo opportunity..

Bill wymans rhythm kings are playing. Now there's a walk on guest for one of the headliners sorted.....

All together now 'I got myself crying walking sleeping talking LIVING DOLL'

    • Hot on the heels of outdoor gig number 1, the second arrived quickly! Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in Malahide last night (lovely sunny evening for it!). As usual, fantastic gig (ebbed and flowed from tender to feral). Since they aren't touring an album it was very different to the Wild God shows from last year, with a bunch of tracks that hadn't been played in a good while wheeled out. Highlights for me were a blistering rendition of Hiding All Away (that merged into the end of White Elephant) and a touching interpretation of A Rainy Night in Soho to close the set (well after curfew!). @Superscally, still nothing from Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! (they really must not like that album!)
    • I’m putting the 2026 code and it’s not applying the discount. Does somebody know why?
    • I think I’ve asked this before, but do we know why this is a ‘never happen’ one? I understand with Queen and Duran Duran, but I’ve never seen anything written saying one way or another if they’d do it. Would be an incredible get.
    • Here we goooo!   I never thought I'd say this at Prima Porto, famous for its rainy weather... I wish it'd be a bit colder ;D
    • I saw an interview the other day with Simon and he was asked about Glastonbury legends spot and he did say they consider themselves headliners and also said something like "The legends slot is a kind of headline slot" The actual wording might be slightly different but it gave an indication that maybe?
