2013 Headliners

If Eavis is brave enough to do it then I reckon he should get New Order to close the fest. They have the tunes and look wicked. If not headlining Pyramid stage then maybe Other or even better John Peel. Just somewhere please.

Yeah, I have always liked New Order but have never been sure of them live. I loved them at Bestival, especially the Joy Division stuff they did, it sounded great and it just seemed to be appropriate, and work. Not sure why, but it seemed very respectful and fitting (no pun intended) to Ian Curtis. They went up in my impressions at that gig. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Did not know New Order played Joy Division songs, I'm not really interested in their music, but I could pop along for a wee bit of Joy Division.

I know many people combat the kanye rumour with, "he has a kid coming late july".

Remember, even though she wasn't heavily pregnant, beyonce HEADLINED whilst being pregnant.

Not sure how that actually works with my argument, I'l just duck and run.

Are you really that bored that you criticise me for using the headliners thread appropriately? seeing as he's been heavily rumoured on here for a while!

Of course i'm bored with all the topics being spread, nothing meaty has come through for a while now. Feels like at certain stages we can be getting floods of information, then bang we're straight back into the dark.

Have to agree with the above, myself and everyone else I know who have seen the new New Order line up live have said that they're far better now. They're much more tight as a band and I wouldn't say they've lost anything from Hook leaving.

    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
