Anything but Frank Turner please!

There's really not much I can't tolerate, from Gaga to Cradle of Filth, (even if I don't like it) I can appreciate and understand how others do find enjoyment in it.

But Frank Turner... Really? He sounds like a primary school child repeating a swear word he's just heard on TV to try and sound cool to impress his mates. I hope his Mummy smacks his hairy bottom and washes his mouth out with soap.

I can understand pre-teen girls having a crush on him as he nicely fits that harmless and sensitive, ultra bland, boy band template they've been brainwashed into thinking they like. But come on, surely we should have to suffer Lee Ryan as acoustic headliner before Frank Turner is considered as a potential JP performer.

Come on! Frank Turner my ass. Surely his Olympic billing was just to really bring the audience right down, crash bottom before the start... "Who the hell is this kn*bhead?" / "Why is the sound so quiet?" etc etc so that the contrast of the main event beginning shone miles above. The calm before the storm / dog poo around a rose.

Hahahaha, I'm a 27 year old guy and I like Frank Turner what does that make me? Also sorry if this upsets you further but Frank is probably getting to a size now where he could potentially headline the Other stage if not at the very least Sub it.... if Panic at the Disco can then Frank turner DEFINATELY could now.

Nah, he's nowhere near that size. It's important to remember, Panic At The Disco headlined at a very specific time, when they were one of the biggest acts in their genre which was very big at the time. If the current massive trend in music was acoustic singers from Winchester, FT would headline Pyramid. He's a good shout for JPT though.

I like him though, prefer his earlier solo stuff, his most recent record isn't that bad though.

He did a good set at V this year ( I know I know ), but the crowd turn out wasn't massive; probably as most of the sheep went to Tiny Tempa on the main stage :)

Not too fussed on his politics, but I do like his tunes; reckon JP tent is a good shout :)

Just clarify my comment before I get another set of venomous teeth sunk into my neck... my suggestion was that he could Headliner the Other stage at a stretch but sub it with ease (not sub the main stage).

Hmmm maybe my love for Mr Turner has clouded my judgment? Suddenly I feel like a Bloc Party fan in the Reading forums.

Again, despite what you pre-teenage girls have been brainwashed into thinking, size isn't everything. While Panic at the Disco (admittedly a very week OS Headline) might not be a massive act in the UK, at least the highlight of their set wasn't getting a cheer for saying "get another round in at the bar".

Very few performers could handle a slot that big with just an acoustic guitar, a few bland songs and an arsenal of unnecessary swear words. Even if they had the strong links to our right wing government as Frank does, they would still struggle to pull off such an exposed performance to such an unforgiving crowd.

So I'm not having a go at him! smile.png

Nor his size!

Just saying that as a flavour of the month (ready salted with reduced salt and fat content) he is possibly not suitable for an event with taste, style and balls!

He has. :(

He's demonstrated to me that some of my beliefs are wrong.

I really thought that despite the weekly chart invasion of various new audible diseases, real people were immune to 95% of the symptoms. The occasional spasms of a tapping foot or mild ticks of indecipherable humming are, unfortunately side effects than many of us can be prone to.

However, somehow this new superstrain of infection seems to have spread to those who have been vaccinated against such blips in society.

People who's taste I used to respect and often agree with I now find are not seeing through this hairy, beige toff.

It upsets me and I can only put this down to the Conservative party using chemical warfare on its own nation.

Sad times when efestival's members have also been manipulated into believing this stain on our green and pleasant land is somehow a credible artist.

Hehe, that made me laugh. I still don't know Frank Turner's music (I have heard him perform at Strummerville, but didn't know the songs/pay much attention) but I see he is capable of generating some heartfelt opinion.

I keep saying I'll check out his albums, then never do.

Wasn't meant to sound harsh, just my own perception of what you've been bleating on about; gonorrhoea does sound a tad harsh as a preference tho.

Still, each to their own, you are entitled to your preferences like anyone else :)

(I am after all just a brainwashed pre-teenage girl)
