If people are saying that Daft Punk can't headline the Pyramid, then people are basically saying no electronic act could headline the Pyramid for the next few years.

Because Daft Punk are easily the biggest electronic act of the century so far.

Which one of them are friendly with the organisers? Only Radiohead I think?

The Stones, Daft Punk and now Arcade Fire have entered the realms of 'it really should happen'. Names that people feel *should* have headlined by now. Radiohead were once referred to by Eavis as the 'Glastonbury House Band' so it only seems a matter of time before they do it again, especially after the secret sets last two fests.

Like I say, I view it as part of the buildup now!

Who knows the reasons behind choosing any headliner, or any act that's even playing? Bookers don't just choose the acts they like the most.

I'm very interested in what makes a Pyramid headliner then. An act which has sold tens of millions of records? Is the biggest act in it's genre? Has sold out the biggest venue in the country?

I just don't agree...

They are bigger than all three headliners at the time of the 2007 festival (Kings of Leon, Jay-Z and The Verve...), Basement Jaxx? Gorillaz? Skunk Anansie?

PLUS they will have a real pyramid stage to perform on!!!!!!!!!!!!

word I'm getting is that the rumours of the Stones playing at the O2 in November are true.

If that is true then I can't work out what it might mean in regard to Glastonbury. I don't know if it makes them more or less likely.

Sill money no doubt. Theyre being paid 4m a show.

Also, Crossfire Hurricane, a full career spanning documentary is being released this year. Looks great!

Whilst far from perfect, a good way to judge the size of an act worldwide is check how many facebook fans they have. (Taking into account that contemporary acts will have more fans using facebook than older acts).

Arcade Fire have just over 1 million facebook fans.

Contrast that with, say, Arctic Monkeys, who have 3 million, and they aren't even big in the States, unlike Arcade Fire.

Major American indie/rock/alternative acts:

The Killers: 7.2million

Black Keys: 2.5 million

Kings of Leon a very depressing 10.8 million

my point being that despite being a contemporary American act, usually quite good for facebook 'likes' they still lag way behind even The Black Keys, who no one see's as a headliner.

And that says the more shit an act is, the more Facebook likes it has.
