Kings of Leon etc headlined Glastonbury and didn't headline elsewhere, to Glastonbury it doesn't really matter.

They have said they wanted to maintain variety with the headliners.

It was sold out before the line up was released. When the line up came out the returns were snapped up in no time.

Everyone is happy. :P

I've heard the same boring shite about Reading and Leeds headliners at T. It doesn't matter. Different festivals have different demographic's. Thats why an act can headline one fest but not another.

Anyway I expect Beyonce has been a last minute and expensive booking for T due to Blink pulling out.

It is a bad booking really, yes she's a big selling artist but she just doesn't have the pull or wider appeal of most other artists. Whether she writes her own songs or not she is nothing but a pop act who appeals to quite a narrow sector of the market, whilst pop has its place at Glastonbury when a pop act with limited appeal in the UK is booked to headline its a pretty poor booking IMHO.

Lets look at her fans, I'd be willing to bet that 80% of her UK records are bought by pre-teen/early teenage girls and people who have appeared on Big Fat Gypsy Weddings. Another 15% will be made up of women and the remaining 5% by people who watch a lot of musicals.

Whilst Glastonbury has a bit of history with suprising headliners at least Jay-Z who was not a major acts in the UK was well respected enough to be a credible act. Beyonce is in no way similar to Jay-Z though, Beyonce is not really a credible artist, she is a brand and is prehaps equally known for her lifestyle and products in the UK than she is for her music.

Is it a daring booking by Emily? Not really no, yes the lady can sing, yes she has a botty that I want to put my face into and go wwwwmmmmpppppph but primarily she's boring, safe and a bit sh!t.

At least Kool and the Gang are on when she is though

If i didnt like queens of the stone age, i'd probably feel a bit cheated.

Titp has the strongest line up ive seen in a long time though, those scots are getting spoilt (3 headliners + 3 r&l headliners + a glastonbury headliner)

Wish i could go, but thats only because weezer are there. . .

I hear what you're saying, but ultimately it makes no difference. If anyone is only interested in seeing her simply because she doesn't normally do festivals, well... that's just weird.

(to me... ;) )

As I said earlier in The thread, I'd imagine Beyonce has been a last minute replacement for Blink 182 at T. It's not like she's goin to turn it down and i'd imagine she'll be making a fortune from her T appearance as they really needed a replacement.

In my opinion this doesn't change anything about her Glasto appearance or her place on the billing.

She's probably getting twice as much money for her TITP appearance than she is for Glasto. Jay Z subbed at T I believe, doesn't make it a bad booking for Glasto, they can't compete in terms of money with the other main festivals. Anyway I'm still chuffed with QOTSA so am not bothered

    • I wonder if he's going to get into the States for the second match against England. Seems a bit weird having players missing for certain matches but not others as the world cup moves around.
    • Quite lucky as I’ve no interest in Halsey at all so I’ve got time for some food and drink before getting in there.   But yeah… thinking I’ll have to leave early to get a decent spot for Gorillaz
