peterdb3492
Tbh I think Bloc Party would be one of the more deserving bands to be given a headline slot compared to some recent headliners. They have three fairly successful albums with a lot of variety (try comparing SRXT to Mercury): Silent Alarm and A Weekend In The City provide the well known tunes and Intimacy provides the atmospheric experimental songs. Also, even if they played too often they, have easily proved their popularity with the R&L crowd.
DaveElNino
Agreed, cant remember a year this has happened. I woudl imagine blur and foos would be an expensive booking.
Bisque
Plus they'll have a 4th record out by then which they will have been working on/off with for 4 years so you'd expect it will be easy to tell if they've run out of idea or are one of those bands that are good enough to propel them to headliners. Id say the next album is make or break, if they can get 2 strong singles on it they'll be an arena band.

mrtourette
I think the Roses would insta-headline any festival if they reformed, like the Smiths.
harderfaster
roses supporting kasabian? blimey. i've always said though, my perfect roses support line up would be 2 of kasabian, the music and noel gallagher. roses influenced those three so well. jump
Maybe REM, if they are exclusive and have no other big shows from them they could get away with being a headliner still.
rexclark
I've said it before but I really don't think that The Stereophonics will ever play the festival again.
