V Line Up Out

Got to be the worst headline acts for a major league festival EVER. I wouldn't cross the road to see either of them for free.

I went to V 5 years in a row (2004-2008) and had generally awesome times each time I went so I ain't gonna shit on it BUT this year's line up is a bit poor. I generally thought (and still do) that if I saw 5 bands each day then I would have had my money's worth, and in the time period I did go to V i've seen some good stuff, but looking at this year's line up there aren't 5 bands/artists across the whole weekend I would shell out the best part of £200 for.

I too have spent many years going to V (before I saw the light!) but have to agree the line-up is not great this year. It's far too poppy. It reads like a T4 live gig on the beach type programme or Radio1 Roadshow.

Out of all the acts listed I would only be interested in Arctic Monkeys, FLC, Primal Scream, BAD and the Courteeners.

And out of those, 3 will probably be playing Glasto.

This years line up is the worst set of "bands" I have ever seen from a major festival. Utter utter utter garbage.

And the worst thing is, glastonbury is heading in the same direction.

Acts are getting more and more poppy and I blame Simon Cowell and his Council-House Karaoko tv programmes.

I think its less the direction musics going in, its always had popy element its just pop acts can't survive on record sales alone and one or two major dates anymore so are infiltrating the live scene more.

for me the V line up is almost as if somebody has read my mind and created a list of all the bands im not into.

which is fine as i have no intention of going.

but, they have Razorlight! have you seen them lately?

is wrong to want to see that hat in the flesh? do V crowds throw piss? would that be worth the cost of a ticket to see?

Rubbish. One of the years I went it was Radiohead, morrissey and faithless that were the highlights among many other top turns. No acts of that calibre on this year IMO- looks like they're trying to totally change their demographic.

Glasto on the other hand is taking shape very nicely!

The two headliners are poor. Eminem peaked about 10 years ago and Arctics although great when first out, haven't stood the test of time imo. Went to V last year for the first time, the line up was quite good, but my god the atmosphere, the clientele, hideous, just hideous. Spent most of my time in the V Secret Garden with people who were happy not to be rolling around in their own piss/chucking their own piss/pissing everywhere and anywhere.

Wish I had gone to Glasto for my first festival experience. Hoping this year at Glasto will rectify last years V experience

V08 was lovely, although mostly that was down to the amount of rain that came down, everyone banded together. Think that was a lot down to the fact it was the Stafford V and I get on with Northerners better. It was also mostly an older crowd although based on my news feed that has gone down to a Reading 16-18 year old age group.

V is definitely changing their demographic - honestly, some of the types of people on my Facebook who have been putting in their status how happy they are to get tickets/gutted to have missed out is crazy. it literally would have been just me and one other from the people I went to school with had Facebook been around in 2004, then it went through to the music fans deciding they fancied festivals a bit, now its gone to the levels of people who would have genuinely looked down on festival goers til a couple of years ago.

I didn't think it would get to this point, i know its now "Cool" to go to festivals, but honestly it has got to a crazy level now. I expected it to die down about 2 years ago when "indie" went away, but really its just got worse!!!

My first festival was Glastonbury (1986), it's still my favourite place in the whole world.

But - I've been to V, and I've been to Kavos and I've had a great time in both those places too.

It is snobbery. Many people spend the whole weekend off their heads on something or other at Glastonbury and hardly see a band. We're honestly not that special. Just people.

I liked V, don't get me wrong, but i think because i went to Glastonbury first, nothing reaches that amazing quality.. I don't know, is it just me or? When a person who asks you, who's never been Glastonbury, 'whats it like?', you can try, but you can't quite describe how you feel when your at Glastonbury, When i got asked what V was like it was a plain 'good'.

The music is rather amazing (well it was last year),which meant over 2 days at V, i managed to watch more bands than in 5 at Glasto.. but nothing happens other Music.. literally.

I feel when i look at glastonbury, people who go are hippies, and people who don't give a damn, and even though it isn't actually true, i felt i'd try and live up to that persona whilst there, and i had a cracking time. At V, there is no hippie persona, just music and beer, so you kind of do as you can whilst your there listen to music cramped in, whilst drinking heavily, whilst i don't condone hurling piss, I can't blame 'em for it.

I'm going again in 2011

I like the look of v festival but reading 2011 i said im going to so....... and glastonbury 2011 so i cant go to the 3 its to expensive festivals
