My Brother sent me a email saying that they are playing in Hyde Park on the Saturday and Bristol on the Monday after, will a gap on Sunday. Is this a coincidence or just hopeful wishes on his behalf. Not mine, i can't stand them, i will be somewhere else.

Legends slot instead of headlining?

Surely the Pyramid headliners will be booked up by now? Or maybe there just "toying" with us.

Eithier way, not particularly bothered about them being there, but whatever il probably watch something else :)

It's a non-story.

I said over a year ago that they wanted to play next year. I said earlier this autumn - after them having been asked their opinion again - that they wanted to play next year. But I also said they'd not been asked, because that was the situation.

That article also says that they've not been asked.

While it might happen that they do get asked at some point between now and June, I'd say it's more likely that they won't. It's certainly the case that many more bands say they want to play publicly in the same way as Bon Jovi have, but never do because they don't get asked.

But more than anything, the reason I find it hugely unlikely that they'll play is because they're booked for a stadium show in Bristol on the Monday after Glasto - and I'd be amazed if the promoter of that show allowed them to play down the road the day before, meaning that the show in Bristol is likely to bomb.

A 'legends' slot though that's not announced until the full line up though, would provide ample opportunity.

Plus it may even whet the appetites for a lot of BJ fans, having a matinee-esque Glasto show on the Sunday and then going for the full show on the Monday?

Maybe. It's all speculative, but they'd hardly weaken the bill in that slot.

That depends on your tastes. :P

But anyway, what I'm trying to say is that it's speculation based on nothing at all, and so is just about worthless. You could pick any act or person in the world and do the same and it'd be just as meaningful. Wanting to play means almost nothing for whether a band will get to play or not.

What counts is being asked, and as that article makes clear they haven't been.

Further from that, it would be a mighty dumb promoter for the Bristol show if he didn't have some basic anti-competition clauses within it - such as "no other shows within 50 miles for 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after" - and I doubt someone that dumb is putting on a show for 20,000+.

I have a hunch they will play about tea time Sunday. I know a LOT of people who like them but would never attend a festival in a million years. They'll sell out the Bristol show easily. I haven't seen them live since Hammy Odeon in 1986 (a memorable gig for me back then as the majority of the audience were female). They are a very slick band indeed with a big catalogue of singalong hits and if they can book Slash and Quo they can book Bon Jovi. Simples!

All shows at Ashton Gate are booked by the football club.

Managing director Doug Harman told ashtongatestadium.co.uk: "Bon Jovi fans still talk of the fantastic show we saw at Ashton Gate in 2008 and their Circle Tour promises to be an even bigger and better production.

"The band had only four tour dates in the UK during 2011 - Edinburgh, Manchester, London and Dublin and we're delighted they've now agreed to add a West Country date for next June.

They have booked Meat Loaf, Westlife, Elton John and Bon Jovi's first trip here but if you think they are a "tin-pot promoter" that's fine. <_<

and......back on topic! Either last year or the one before (think we were waiting for the Boss to come on so '09) The "DJ" in the pyramid field played Livin' on a Prayer, one of the biggest sing-a-long's I have heard in my paltry 3 years at the fest. I think therefore, unlikely as it feels, Bon Jovi would go over well.

Bon Jovi have admitted they are “toying” with the idea of playing next year's Glastonbury festival.

The group are due to play their own UK dates next summer, and will be in the country when the event in Somerset takes place in June.

In an interview with the Daily Star, singer Jon Bon Jovi offered to perform at the festival.

“I’ve always toyed with the idea of playing there,” he said. “If they don’t have another old-timer like me, I’d love to go out and see it and perhaps do a set, sure.”

The headliners for next year's Glastonbury festival have yet to be confirmed. Tickets have sold out.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
