Headliners NOT confirmed

how much more likely in your estimation does this 'announcement' make stevie?

Nothing more than I'd thought previously - it's not really possible to use this as anything extra, because we can't know what Bellamy was told and when - that is, if he's told the BBC that Stevie is the other headliner. If he hasn't, then there's certainly nothing extra with it.

We know that Stevie wasn't yet signed and sealed when Michael blabbed - that was clear in his words. But I'd have thought that Michael was pretty confident that he would be sorted for him to mention Stevie as he did.

Yawn.

It's possible that I failed to see it, I admit & I get your point entirely. It is also possible that they added a line. :P

yep, it's possible they added it. But I reckon it's more likely they didn't.

It is obvious that a lot of journos follow efests and need stories to feed their industry. If everyone is discussing the rumours on the internet I guess they feel they may as well publish anyway. Sloppy, embellished journalism is everywhere unfortunately.

Any chance of links to the articles you refer to?

You can google as well as I can. :P

The original efests article was published in November I think, and shouldn't be difficult to find. All you then need to do is find muse/Glasto stories elsewhere for around the same time.

(don't bother checking gigwise's story - they corrected their crap journalism after I'd mailed them).

actually, having just heard what 6music said in their news broadcast, it appears that he's now signed up and so certain. :(

Sifi dislikes users referring to themselves in the third person.

Sifi self-loathes.

I thought this was to be a special year for Glastonbury this year...Muse headliners on Sat...not my idea of anything special, U2...good booking for Eavis..but special i don't think so, as usual they leave the worst till last...Wonder to close... f**king crap,he would be much better in a Sunday afternoon slot, even though i was not a Blur fan, they were the right choice to close on a high last year...come on Eavis, you can and have done better than this in past years ok Jay Z was a blip but we can blame Emily for that,no doubt she can be blamed for two of this years headliners... :P:P:P:P

Ah good, someone else has heard it, did Matt Bellamy use the word 'headliner' at all? I think not!

erm .... I can't be sure, I wasn't paying full attention. I don't think he did tho.

But as the Beeb have published that they are headlining, there's a reasonable chance that he said that in a snippet that they're not broadcasting.

I sincerely doubt this.

Denwyn - just out of interest - who were you hoping to headline?

To be honest I'm not overly impressed either. While acknowledging he's obviously a legend, and I do like the songs I've heard, I borrowed a mate's greatest hits and had only heard of about 8 songs, which puts him into the potentially boring category which Bruce fitted into last year. I did enjoy a lot of his show and would enjoy Stevie Wonder's as well, but I do probably have a more extensive music experience/knowledge than a lot of the glasto crowd (please don't think that sounds arrogant, it wasn't my intention, but I'm not just an NME slave) wonder (no pun intended) if a 2-3 hour set may just get a bit tiresome, especially as people will be one more day tired than on a Saturday night. Sitting off on a glorious sunny afternoon would have had me genuinely excited to see him, now I'm not sure? I'd have thought Stevie Saturday, Muse Sunday would have been better.
