Most Memorable act you saw in 2009

Johhny Marrs, the Glade Stage, Friday mid-day.

What a way to start the festival. A classic bluesman, playing some strutting stuff. I think he used to play with the Spencer Davis Group. Brilliant.

There were about fifty people there for the start, and maybe five times that number by the end, lots of people were passing, stopped - and stayed.

You could not touch them with anything else! Most likely favourite Glasto gig of all time for me..........but that is like trying to says whats your favourite album.........very difficult and changes with mood and season!

Easily Neil Young what a performance!!! and the Keep On Rockin' The Free World multiple endings were immense!!!

I know it's predictable but blur were so much better than I'd dared to hope for. However, the most memorable "band" of last year was the "We're camped near the other stage and stuck in the chuffing crush to get over the bridge crowd" (acapella) singing the refrain from "Tender" on the way back to the tents. Truly magical. "Oh my baby...."

So there I am, in Shangri La, formerly Lost Vagueness, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Bruce wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Michael Eavis pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweet shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, Michael Eavis, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweet shop. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Bruce went on stage and did a great show.

I also sobbed my heart out during Blur as it was amazing......but I did the same right through Emmy The Great who I'd never heard of before. She was just lovely and that is the one that really sticks in my memory.

I can remeber the emotions attached to being at Blur but not really the set, but I remember Emmy perfectly. When I got the album and listened to it for the first time, i could remember nearly every tune from the gig. I've never had that happen before.

Blur and the Animal Collective for me.

I'd never really heard of the Animal Collective before but a friend dragged me to see them and I was completely blown away

Strangely the act that sticks in my head most is an act I don't know the name of.

If you are going from the Glade towards the Hare Krishnas there was this wee stage on the side of an ancient truck. There were stalls next to it. Anyway this women came on stage, quite a hippy type, with an accordian and a bloke with a double bass(or similar)? It was quite folky music but she was singing about fags, ale and the likes. Thoroughly enjoyed it! not my type of thing at all aswell.

Big act that sticks in my head is White Lies.

At Glasto Blur

I was stood at the back of the Pyramid arena soaking it all up on my own. Tender came on I started bawling some gibberish about this is the greatest moment of my life & this totally random fella stood next to me put his arm around me & said yup it doesn't get much better than this does it!!

Badly Drawn Boy was also fantastic, never seen him play so many hits & a special mention for Jarvis, one of the biggest regrets of my Glasto time was leaving Jarvis to go watch the Bruce..... sigh...

Gig has to be Kasabian at Sheffield Arena or Billy Ocean at Hull City Hall. I thought Kasabian where disapointing and predictable at Glasto but their own gig really blew my socks off.

Billy Ocean was just so much great fun, 60 years old & he was on stage for nearly 2 hours & didn't stop for an encore or a breather once.

I had a whinge at Bruce during "The River". People were so focussed on the show that no one really noticed. Thankfully.

But it was Blur that had the lasting impact last year.

Emmy The Great were good too. Probably their first set at the Queen's Head.

The best was Bruce Springsteen & Blur. Most surprising was Lily Allen, she was great but i thought she'd be very average.

The most memorable acts I saw at Glastonbury were Blur and The Gaslight Anthem. Memorable in totally different ways and therefore fairly hard to compare.

Away from Glasto seeing Oasis at Wembley, after a similar time gap to Blur, was fairly reminiscent of my younger years especially given what happened afterwards.

I also had an absolutely awesome time watching the Maccabees at Brixton.
