My mate has just paid for the course I want to go on and the course provider has sent me a confirmation email reserving me a place. I start the 8 day course next Monday. I'm very happy about this development.

That's brilliant news, even more so that you have such good friends :)

she's getting there, yeah.

She's done better than my godfather, who's broken his neck (tho isn't paralysed, thankfully).

Bloody Hell, you're sounding like someone in those old murder mysteries, where everyone the sleuth knows gets bumped off.

Nah, just oldies being oldies.

Rather amusingly, my godfather broke his neck when a chair collapsed in an NHS walk-in centre .... I'm guessing he's now getting the very best care the NHS has to offer, in the hope they don't sued.

Organisation.

After a few crappy years of money issues and health problems I've got my shit together. I'm not going to get rich, but I'm not going to spend the last week of the month with no hot water and living on noodles either. For all the time I was off work sick (18 months over 3 years) I got no help benefits wise, so built up rent arrears and such. I've mostly cleared everything from that period of time and what's left to pay is organised and affordable.

These last few weeks it has felt like a weight has been lifted.

Very happy to hear that Spindles. That's put a smile on my face. :)

Had a new matress deliver yesterday, slept on it for the first time last night and it was so comfortable! Not sure if it was the memory foam layer or the fact it was replacing my old one that had developed a rather large dip in the middle over the past few months! I can now spread across the whole size of a double bed again!

Still needs to be christened though:P

I started a course yesterday which hopefully will lead to a new career and professional qualification (of sorts). It's a very intensive eight day course. It didn't go as well as I would have hoped yesterday but today was fab. I was frustrated with my own progress yesterday but happy today. I can also work on yesterday's deficiencies while at home, so can improve on this, hopefully to the point of perfection. This is making me happy this evening.

Good on you Mr Yoghurt and good luck with it :).

I am trying to motivate myself to pick up some sort of course...not so much a career change, but its becoming evident I might need something else in order to move up the ladder/change jobs than just my degree. (I do kind of miss learning, but I am one of those who after work just wants to laze around watching tv and playing video games.)

Thanks Tom :)

I know what you mean about trying to learn something in the evening after you've already done a days work. It can be hard to get motivated. That said, you don't want to be left behind while others go up the ranks. In my experience they only do that so that they can delegate all the work to those below them.

That said, in my last job I never sought promotion (although it was offered to me). However, this was because I didn't even want to be working in that field. This new course I'm on is kind of connected to what I did before but only marginally. I never want to go back to what I did before.

Cat went missing yesterday morning, she's old bones these days (got her just before my son was born so she's almost 10 - should really get around to changing my avatar!) so never goes more than 50M from the house these days.

By the time I'd woke up and still with no sight of her, I'd already decided that was it

....and then she struts into the house like nothing has happened. I don't think I've ever been so relieved in my life :)

That's brilliant. I had my cat till she was 20, a few years before she died she started having fits and getting a bit doolally, she had to be kept in for her own safety, but escaped and went missing overnight, I also thought that was it. But a kind neighbour a few streets away could see she was frail and had taken her in.

It's a lovely feeling when you get them back :D

20 is the most impressive age I think I've ever heard for a cat. The oldest we ever got to was 14 IIRC

I know it may sound excessive, but thinking of getting a GPS tag for her, but the ones I've seen on a brief search all look too bulky for cats (or not GPS). Anyone got any suggestions?

Is she chipped? Anyone who finds her would contact a vet, so you could be traced easily.

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
