I am glad.. i cant stand Bono and any of their music from the last 10 years and I wanted this year to be one where I didnt stay at the Pyramid all weekend for headliners. Now I know I will be able to have a look round!!

I really would like to see the early U2 stuff but being the c0ck that he is he will probably play 2 or 3 unless someone gives him 10 trillion pounds tax free.

I wont be taking the risk...

now I just want to hear the M word....

surely all this books to the only band bigger on earth than u2 headlining on saturday?

"IF I DON'T GET SOME SHELTERRRRR"

If eavis doesn't provide the stones i will be f**king gutted, u2 are w*nk and there's no way that's an equal headliner for neil young playing friday last year.

and all these springsteen nay-sayers, suck a dick, he's the greatest live performer in the world, and i don't even think the mighty stones could top his performance this year.

but give me the stones, dylan, bowie [providing he provides old stuff] and a few smaller tent headliners [roger mcguin eg:], and ill forgive the mighty eavis for dropping the ball on this ...

... one of the worst friday night headliners i could've thought of.

Personally I like the idea of u2 headlining. They're undoubtedly a huge coup for the fest.

How about this for a lineup?

Friday

u2

greenday (mates with u2, did that awful duet with em, said they want to play, in Europe next yr, billie joe seems to want to be Bono)

Saturday

led zep

foos (dave grohl mates with jpj and jimmy page, i kno they're huge but led zep undoubtedly huger, want to play, some talk of them playing etc etc)

Sunday

muse/radiohead/coldplay

faithless/chemical bros/prodigy

Is that complete fantasy? Or this being the 40th anniversary do we think we could get some massive acts not headlining?

Said to my wife the other week that I reckoned they would play but didn't think it would come true

I love U2 and think this will be a fantastic booking

Shame I ain't going :P

May need to look to try and get some tickets next year if and when there's a re-sell

Bloody well done everyone at GF. A MASSIVE announcement.

U2 will get the biggest crowd in the festivals history unless they put someone equally massive up against them.

How good is "Bad" gonna sound on that feckin' thing by the way?!?!?!

I AM OVER THE FARKING MOON HERE. Superb stuff from the whole team at GF. Amazing.

Wow.

I am completely stunned by this - there was me pretending to be the Glasto know-it-all amongst my mates and saying that there was 'no way' U2 would play.

I'll be there, and I'm sure it'll be a great night. I'm actually quite excited. I really, really hope they play Bad and Sunday Bloody Sunday. That would be epic.

Wooderson - are you now going around saying 'Thierry who?' :P

Great booking, Mr E. It will be brilliant.

I'm thinking that if U2 are really playing on the Friday night then it can't be anyone but the Stones on Saturday night - they're about the only band I can think of that U2 would play second fiddle to (and headlining the Friday night is defo playing second fiddle).

But Eavis was recently quoted as saying an act they have is bigger than the Stones, so it sounds like it's not the Stones.

If U2 are on Friday then this means one of two things, either it was the only night they could realistically have played due to commitments, or two they have someone MASSIVE for saturday ...

And that could only be Led Zeppelin imo

Still looking good for the Zep. :P:P

Wow, could you imagine?! U2 and Led Zep. I'm creaming my pants already
