It’ll be worth it if England lose on penalties

Congratulations on the jinx.

Though I can't see them beating Mexico in the next round with a first 70 minutes like that. And even if they do, Brazil or Norway has the air of an obstacle too far.

There could be a way to Starmer to turn his popularity around completely by getting pissed as England win, then climbing into the regular seats on the final whistle and giving massive V-signs to the cameras before passing out.

See how I feel on Sunday about it.

I'm thinking going to bed at 8pm might be the best way to go. Issue is going to be if it goes to pens, thats going to get your heart rate going so no chance of dropping off for at least an hour after the end.

I'm pretty sure the pub I watched tonights in won't open as the landlord is 82. I think alot of places will be in two minds with higher rates of pay for staff and then how many people will actually turn up.

Aye I think a pre-game nap is probably the only real way to make it work. Maybe even a brief one at half time if the energy levels demand it.

I do agree tbf that it could be a tricky one for places that would beam the games. Some will get the crowds regardless but a short-notice turnaround indeed.

Maybe I'll end up just sleeping through it and watching the highlights in the morning.

Still a good shout … I nodded off again

I went to bed at 2-0 feeling it was a well deserved win for the Senegalese

Chelsea should sign that Lakuku guy

I think its nice that in these days of false nines, deep lying playmakers, low blocks and other meaningless nonsenses that now have fancy names, there's still space for the 'stick the big lad up and we'll bung it at him' tactic - Belgium were dreadful before Lukaku came on, and barely any better afterwards, but they were at least functional and had a shape.

still absolute daylight robbery, i felt for Senegal. They do need to stop getting involved in hilarity in big games though! Controversy is their best pal

For all the talk about altitude being a disadvantage for England. Surely Mexico having significantly worse players is a bigger disadvantage? I don’t think a single Mexico player would make the England squad.

So if Mexico have such a poor squad how have they progressed so far and how are they unbeaten at home for so long?

Hopefully they absolutely destroy the arrogant blokes in white

The Azteca Altitude Fortress

England has to survive Mexico at the Estadio Azteca next Monday.

The stadium sits 7,220 feet above sea level.

The thin air drains European players rapidly.

Mexico has never lost a World Cup match there in regular time.

Yeah, easy England win nailed on. So confident I'm not even going to stay up and watch it.

They're also ranked 10th in the world!! We didn't beat Ghana who are in 65th place.

I think that implies some of the Mexican players would make the England squad...
