I am still fairlly convinced shes due a headline slot if not already booked.

 

Would the recent stuff shes been involved with make the festival think otherwise or do we think its brushed over?

 

Also does anyone else see her playing the pyramid soon?

I think she needs another album before she headlines. She has been riding the coat tails of her first album for a long time. She is a great songwriter so I don't doubt a second album will be huge, she just needs to release it already.

Recent controversy pales in comparison to say, Kneecap, and they still got booked.  I don't think that would make them shy away.  But Chappell has said that she plans to release singles; she's a slow writer and that a full album won't be ready "just like that".  

If the festival were tomorrow, i'd struggle where to put her.  I think she's capable of headlining but it's a tough call at present.  It would depend on who else playing.

If the festival was on this year I think she would headline it, but The Giver and The Subway seem to have cooled off her momentum a little bit. If the next album isnt a smash then she might be better as a sub for Glastonbury.

Have these not both been massive songs? I felt like I heard them all the time towards the end of last year.  I tought Hot to Go was a big hit, then Pink Pony Club went to another level altogether.  She is 100% a headliner.

She is 100% a headliner when the time is right. But her songs are old and unless she releases new music, 2027 is not her year.

Yes for sure.  I just mean that if your other headilners are bigger names than her (ie, the cure, macca, etc) then on a non album cycle she might be a better sub or an other stage headliner

She's definitely got the clout to headline, even with only one album and a couple of singles.  You have to expect that she'll have more material out by the time of next year's festival.

She’s headliner material for sure.. her recent festival headline sets have been stunning.  Would love to see her headline the pyramid next year.

I think she would only be booked with a new album out to be fair. Would be well up for it regardless-  but makes sense to book her with new music momentum vs after every other festivals had her 3 years previously.

 

They have booked acts like that before though, e.g. the killers in 2019 (i think?)

The new album still seems like a long way off, but if she's available at the right price for 2027 its a fairly easy tap in of a booking.  I'd expect she'll drop a single or two before next summer anyway.

That thought did cross my mind, but I guess it's the difference between a zeitgeist act when anything more than 6 months old is out of date vs a heritage act when anything less than 30 years old is their new stuff that fans are still deciding whether they like or not 😁

Wouldn't take too long to think of Glastonbury headliners who haven't been specifically promoting a new album. There's been loads. Highly likely in any case she would have at least a handful of new songs released by June 20207.

She is definitely on the list of acts for potential headliners - but theres quite a few in the pot for the next couple. id believe she would headline the next one -  id equally believe she would not headline for another 5 - 6 festivals -   Her stardom aint going away anytime soon -  I recon it will just be when the slot best lines up with her availability and we probably have no data on that right now

Nope its not, it's over 50s now and was 60 off.

 

It's not her pnly decent song at all but it does carry her a fair way.
