They do say they’re closing the day though

Yeah reckon it's a late night closing set for 90 mins or so and we might have someone bigger beforehand.

Exciting name though for all those who like "Primavera rubbish"! 😉

Ah, apologies, it doesn’t mention that in the Instagram post but you’re right that the full press release does. Still that’s a great name for a late night set imo

I’m on this train of thought until proven otherwise now haha

Yeah it's now creeping further and further away from committing but it is what it is. I'd never pay for it currently in England so I wouldn't elsewhere. Tej theory, rule book and patterns have certainly gone. There won't be two headliners that night still, there will be just one though currently you might as well just go to Spain.

So there's just one headliner missing, any guess ?

I think Muse could be there but there is no female more pop oriented headliner announced yet, maybe Sabrina ?

With what they’ve gone for I do actually expect it to maybe be a rock headliner (I did say my opinion would change with just 1 announcement).  Whether that is Muse, Foo Fighters or another who appears out of nowhere:

Rock Header / Jack White

The XX / Mumford & Sons

Twenty One Pilots / Gorillaz

The Cure / The War on Drugs

There will be two, Friday will still have another name.

Mumford and Sons I think are v likely, could be paired with The XX

Then Thursday probably a bigger headliner. Could be Sabrina, maybe Foos or a wildcard like Pearl Jam who haven't announced anything yet (maybe that's just my blind hope talking though...).

On Festileaks they're proposing something like:

Fred again, Sabrina Carpenter

The XX, Mumford and Sons

Gorillaz, Twenty One Pilots

The Cure, The War on Drugs

Not sure where that would leave Jack White though. Probably too big for the Barn, but if not, would go well against Sabrina / Fred again

And I hope it will be more energetic than the xx... I'm just curious: Is that band still relevant today besides that two minute intro song? No new music since 2017, no concerts as a band since 2018 (source setlist fm). I don't want to downplay the band's influence, and there's no denying that they are still popular in the indie scene. But for me its just nostalgia and rareness, for them to be a closer at rock werchter. If no other big name is playing that day, for me it's a worse booking than Sam Fender.

Yeah Jack will be main stage, probably is Mumfords and if Sabrina follows I'd almost certainly be out. It's just so light on fbe ground. That would be a massive downgrade on this year at the top and I think it would show they struggled a bit as Primavera generally get one big headliner now if they do and others are the sub level which shows by this years and previous to be honest. That's not going against the festival itself but Chappell, Charli and Sabrina is that. From LP, Green Day and Olivia to this would look so weak for me anyway. But then I'm working with my people to try and learn you can't do anything about that as it's out of your hands. You can only say regardless of what you think it's not for you and don't pay.

They would need Foo Fighters now on Thursday to try and turn it around for me as I'm only bother about one of those above and for anyone that was you aren't attending because as said it is a festival lineup, it's not like a Roskilds, Sziget or Glastonbury type of festival. It would be a shame as we've got an open goal but I would just pick ticket later for The Cure from twickets or get down to IOW as I don't mind how that's started.

In short I'm inclined to agree, out of both Gorilliaz and TOP I prefer TOP for a few songs but those 3 are just nah. But that's me.

As always, you can only book who’s about and judging by announcements this year so far it’s The Cure + names that have previously been seen as on the edge of headlining.

I personally think festivals will be stronger in depth this year without the heavy hitter names

We shall see, they might have even decided to go in a different direction. Currently I'd have definitely gone to this years over next without question, The Cure wouldn't change that as pne act can be acquired in a different way.

I like both Lewis and The Cure so couldn't rule IOW out currently, I liked it last year too. Its just the ferry pallava. Its 1 hour to Sandbanks though and 1.5 hours from the jurassic coast from Southampton which is presume is where you get it so two areas I'd like to visit which are a bit too far to just decide to go from me. Options are there.

To a point i agree they can but Sam Fender was definitely a booking that could have been beaten especially for a Saturday this year with options about. He's clearly not back but he's not anywhere. Seems quite clear unless it's suddenly late summer/August fests that he got his last album out, shows done and back to writing for 2027 touring.

You have the answer right there. The fact that they are coming back after an 8 year hiatus is what elevates their status compared to other similar sized bands. Though a festival the size of RW should have another coheadliner for their day. Also it is likely that there will be new music coming from them before next summer.
