And what do you think was their motivation last year?

If as the OP said they did it at the same time, then it was no extra effort.

The announcement of Ciutat got so little attention in of itself that publishing the breakdown of each band to venues is going to get a shrug from most people.

I might have a mental blockage but how is this different from last year? There wasn't any special announcement on day splits last year, day splits just appeared on the website after the poster was released. Do you think they're planning some special day splits announcement this time?

The original poster said they did the day splits at the same time last year so I was basing it off that.

I'm the OP. 😅 OK, doesn't matter, I still think that the day splits might appear on the webpage or in the app without any secial announcement... and sooner rather than later. We'll see.

What *is* la cituat.. in 2012 I recall seeing Richard Hawley at Ciutadella on the Sunday night, that wasn't ticketed at all..in 2015 I saw the Juan McLean in a club (sala apolo?) on the Wednesday night.. in 2013 I tried to talk my way into a venue on the Wednesday night but failed (was that for Nick Cave?)..in 2011 I queued but had to listen to Echo and the Bunnymen from outside Poble Espanol.

I thought these were very much extra single gigs. I was aware this has become a handful of gigs but this now seems like loads? All as part of your festival ticket?

The number of ciutat names is very similar to last year, so if you check last year's clashfinder, you'll get a pretty good picture of what it looks like. Basically, all the acts on Monday and Tuesday are "a la ciutat", also most of the acts on Wednesday and Sunday (minus the few artists that play Parc del Forum) and some acts on Thursday and Friday afternoon that play at CCCB.

Edit: And yes, all are included in full festival ticket, but you have to make a reservation (last year you had to pay 15 euros for reservation but it was refunded once you attended the show). Reservations expected in March/April 2026.

Model/Actriz - they were far and away my favourite gig of the year

Yeh agreed and they're getting better live too. Done a lot of dates this year and more next year so I expect their ciutat show to be solid

Will check out Femtanyl too but how to put this... Very young crowd. Similar to Machinegirl, big Atari Teenage Riot influence (for both of them) imo

They already played Ciutat last year. And were already incredibly good live then - was my show of PS24.

No substitute needed, The Cure was already planning to play like a five-piece just as they did in 2016.

Meaning Perry (RIP) had dropped out of the line up already?  I saw The Cure at Primavera in 2012, I can't recall the lien up, am pretty sure Porl was with them in 2017 at Glastonbury.

Porl (now: Pearl) left the band in 2011.

Reeves Gabrels replaced him in 2012.

Yes, the band already announced the five piece lineup for the forthcoming tour prior to Perry's passing.
