Thìngs have been going this way for a long time. Even easier to take the piss when it's an exclusive event. Yes, it's for charity but it sets a precedent for others to follow.

The only way to stop is to take on the companies and artists that agree to this sh*t. The people lap it up the more ticketmaster and co will get away with it.

Dynamic pricing in full swing today, people paying ridiculous amounts for tickets! Is this the shape of things to come? Anybody happy to pay & bought tickets?

You'll be devastated to hear that those prices were face value and not dynamic. Didn't try myself, but the in-laws did. Not pretty.

I managed to bag ONE ticket. I really want four but it's looking increasingly unlikely.

I've been hitting the site throughout the day but returns are being bought within seconds.

Will be trying again tomorrow in the Live Nation presale.

Cost for an early entry ticket (which I gather is one of the VIP tickets with added 'extras') is £385.

It's a standing ticket, I'll be getting the coach so early entry is useless to me.

Add in the considerable fees and coach ticket, it's just shy of £460.

It is what it is, you only need to look on Reddit to see the demand. Incredibly, my ticket is one of the 'cheaper' ones and I'll undoubtedly make money if I resell (which is a possibility, since going alone isn't ideal, far from it).

It's grim but when American punters think it's cheap, what hope have we got???  image.thumb.png.d63f3c92f7b32f189cb6c0fdc629ae5b.png

You resell at face value - not more. Otherwise you are part of the problem.

I have no idea why people would pay that much to see a drug addled old codger shuffle around stage. Is it just because it's his last show? If so, it seems more like a tick box exercise. I'll just not get tickets and tell people I was there. Best of both worlds!

You realise he's not the only act on the line-up?

I’ve no idea why anyone would pay that much to see anyone

You think it's worth it then?

It's at the top end of what I'd pay, but if I was a metal-head then the line-up would make it a must see.

I'd drop that amount on something like Live Aid or the Freddie Mercury Tribute and that's the closest comparison to this.

It's also about the same as a good Beyonve or Taylor Swift ticket.

Well that's where we disagree then. At least with a traditional festival you're getting 3-4 days camping too, which isn't cheap. To see this you'd have to dish out for accommodation and transport too, all for a bunch of wayyyy past-their-prime acts.

That's moving the goalposts.  The bill is still stacked and there are plenty of younger acts like Mastodon, Gojira, Sleep Token, etc

I didn't move any goalposts. I've said from the start that the ticket prices are a ripoff for this lineup. I'm sure you don't really believe those bands you've just stated justify the price tag.

Same as if I buy a ticket from someone else and they make a profit, it is what it is.

You can choose to participate or not...

Personally, this is an almost unrepeatable moment, 50,000 lucky punters, one-time opportunity.

Glastonbury, 250,000 odd people and happens almost every year.

If someone offered me Glasto 2025 or Ozzy's final show, I'd choose the Ozzy show without hesitation.

It's easy to see how prices have ended up where they are.

What have AC/DC tickets just sold for, approaching £200 each? And that's just a fraction of what's on offer at Villa Park...

No. You started your argument by saying it was a lot of money for one act:

🤣 I never said that, and your quote proves it 🤣 Are you saying Black Sabbath isn't the headline act?

Anyway, that's irrelevant. I wouldn't pay that if it was just Black Sabbath and I wouldn't pay that for the whole lineup.

Considering Download is £300, the line up for Sabbath even with shortened sets it's far superior. If i manage to do better than 20000 in the queue If gladly get a ticket up to £350. It's still a ridiculous price though, but this is an exceptional event in my view.

If you don’t like Black Sabbath, and aren’t interested in the absolute sh*t-ton of bands that are influenced by them, a huge amount of whom are on this bill - an absolute one-off that wouldn’t even be repeated over a weekend festival, let alone one day - then you don’t have to go.
I’d love to go, there’s some of the bands I’ve loved for years on that bill, but I don’t have £250 for that ticket. this is partly cos I’ve spent £400 on a posh Bloodstock ticket (where Gojira will be headlining) and I’ve also done my glasto deposit this week too. I don’t go marching into the Taylor Swift thread mocking everyone for paying £300 on her, just cos I wouldn’t pay a tenner for it; I say fair play, good on em for loving something and getting stuck right into it, and I get on with my day. Not sure why people would want to slag Ozzy, but hey go for it. It really impresses everyone.

I'd pay that much to see the 1970 Brazil team play football.

But in 1970. Not now.

If you bust out a Time Machine, lemme know and I’ll swing back to 73 for a Sabbath gig 👍 wouldn’t be too fussed by the 1970 Brazil team, but I would very much fancy the 1954 final, Hungary v East Germany! AND it was at the w*nkdorf stadium (waiting to see what the swear filter does to that)

You could also get a Taylor ticket that was decent for the same price that this was at the starting point so that's not strictly true

I have to say I'd 100% choose Glastonbury over a ticket for this. I'm not into a gig range of heavy metal enough for this to be a must see at anywhere close to those prices.

My max price point for it was already way lower. There was no reason really why this should have been mountains about what Foo Fighters Tribute concert is.

It's very clear though though there is a headline band and the 4 being mentioned. Many of those bands people have got to see full sets over time from and not just a handful in a short set.

I know that, and I'll say again that it's a ripoff.

I’d guess from your comments that you are not a metal fan?

Any concert tickets that much is crazy but it’s a full day from midday to 11pm of the best metal bands around now plus some legends and black sabbaths last gig.

it’s a real “I was there moment” for metal fans and considering London shows are £180 for a decent seat in the west end ……. £250 to £350 for this even seems a bargain.
