The Glastonbury 2025 Crowd Size Debate Thread

Since it's come up in a few different threads, thought we might as well have one dedicated entirely to the kind of speculation we love to debate and argue about.

 

Who will get the biggest crowd at Glastonbury in 2025? Who will exceed expectations, and who will underperform? 

 

My hunch - The 1975 will be the smallest of the three rumoured headliners but will still outperform several from recent years atop the bill, and we will inevitably have a lockout on the Other Stage for somebody.

On lockouts - The Libertines - if they are on any stage other than Pyramid and not in the top two slots.

 

if Elbow were up against the 1975 I’d fancy the former to draw a bigger crowd.

I cannot overstate how much I disagree with that second point. Elbow? In 2024? I know there'll be a decent amount of Dads about who can't be arsed with new music, but they're never competing with The 1975 for crowd size, sorry.

 

The three tainted headliners - '75, O-Rod, and Sam - will all have decent, non-record breaking crowds. Kendrick size, or so, I imagine.

I am guilty of having a good look around, I will admit. Wish I wasn't, but it's a habit that's hard to break.

Of the rumours we have so far, they will be good for spreading footfall around the site. None of those 3 will get a crowd anywhere close to Coldplay last year. Conversely, no disasters like Sza either.

 

Rod Stewart will comfortably get a bigger crowd than those 3 headliners, although if we only get 2 of them and a bigger 3rd headliner then that would change.

Depends on the third "bigger" headliner, so to speak. If it is Muse for example, I wouldn't be so sure.

From what little we know or suspect, I don’t think there’s anyone who will gain a huge crowd, might not be a bad thing if the Pyramid isn’t crazy rammed, certainly nothing like Elton & Coldplay.

We literally know about 5 acts, bit early for this!

 

The crowd 'lockouts' will be from either blowing up acts e.g. Barry this year, or from an obvious silly booking ala Bicep / Avril. Hopefully there won't be any.

Rod's crowd will definitely take up more space because of the picnic blankets and camping chairs

Rod Stewart to pull the biggest crowd, O-Rod to have everyone on Facebook saying "Who" and random SZA comparisons - to actually pull a mega size crowd biggest of the headliners - 

 

Someone like Travis or Elbow to pull a mega size crowd in a midd-afternoon slot on Pyramid or Other.

 

And Heartworms who currently only have a handfull of tracks and not yet released debut album to be on the poster in an early slot on Woodsies only to snowball in popularity and pull a crazy big crowd for an early slot - Believe the hype!

I think not. The Libs played Other Stage early a couple of years ago and there was plenty of room

Cannot tell if The Libertines are back on the way up again. How have sales been for that show in London?

 

If they are there, I would anticipate a decent crowd for Ezra Collective - but very much depends where they go.

Ezra Collective would bang as a WH headliner. Maybe a bit too big for that after selling out Wembley Arena though.

The sort of act I wouldn't have dreamed of seeing when she was new (indie sleaze youth) but now would very much enjoy pretending I was there first time around.
