What are the chances of Red Hot Chillies in the Churnups/patchwork slot? Can’t see them as headliners with other great options around and their ‘previous’ with the festival. They’ve been announced or leaked on the festival circuit for next year

Michael Eavis said in a talk i went to a couple of years back that the Red Hot Chilli Peppers are "Not allowed on site even if they get tickets

That does reduce their chances of getting the call a little bit.

Think they'll probably turn up and do a stadium show in London tbh.

Never seen any leaks on them touring next year?

They're apparently leaked as doing a festival somewhere in Europe next summer. Can't find where though.

There's also a poster on Reddit claiming they're doing Lollapalooza India in January but as that poster had the wrong spelling of chili (two L's), that one can probably be discounted.

Ah you must've missed this thread in the general chitchat section of the forum.

A lot of the games did look like fun tbf. Makes me want to get a lot of tickets when England (well and Scotland, Ireland and Wales) hosts the Euros in 2 years.

Aw, sh*t. Yeah, wouldve been fun to have gone in there. I was fortunate to have not had to pay an arm and a leg for tickets either. Will post some photos in there in a minute.

There will be a female headliner of some kind. I don't think Fontaines is ruled out anyway even if Madonna done it.

It isnt, but who knows what  the options are anyway. I would say a Sabrina Headline set wouldnt even go that well on the Pyramid field cause if it was the same thing as Coachella then its gonna fall flat. Is she gonna get a bunch of british celebs to do mini vignettes and like a 5 min video monologue? Its gonna put people to sleep. Like itll be seen as a good time but not mind blowing set of the weekend type stuff

I do wonder if Madonna is hypothetically out the frame, could that T-Swift rumour from a while ago be worth anything? Sabrina would also make a lot of sense but there’s also word that Taylor’s gearing up for another tour next year

Where’s the intel from that Madonna is off the pitch? If anything, I think the BST rumours make it seem more likely that she’s playing. She wouldn’t be doing a one-off show at Glastonbury…a festival-style stage that she can do at both a week apart from each other…the earnings she’d get from BST would pay for a night at the Pyramid.

Could it be possible the festival have wanted to calm down the chatter … they don’t like headliners known before the sale

The BST reports were quite specific in that she'd be playing there having turned down Glastonbury.

Those reports could well turn out to be bollocks - especially given that as best I can tell The Sun is the original source - but if they are correct there's not a whole lot of room for interpretation.

From what I heard Sabrina at Coachella was really good.

Why does she need celebs though?, it was a lot of general public buying tickets for BST for example. I think joe she's toned it down though it's better.

I tried to watch Sabrina’s set and it was pretty boring to be fair, for me at least.

Fun for a while but not really for me but I’m certainly not the target audience so I understand that. Can’t argue it would be a strong booking and certainly what the festival is moving towards

Well i won't be able to compare it against a second 😉

But the more you go the more normal it seems! I love watching people walking by, wondering what on earth is going on, getting sucked in to give it a brief watch and then getting their pinchy pinchy kiss kiss arms out and being won over 🦞

What did they do?!

It was before my time, so maybe one of the veterans can explain better  - but from what I understand they were booked in 1993 -  and just did not turn up, didn't say anything didn't apologise afterwards or ever. to this day.

I think they were asked about it years later and said they couldn't play as Flea had chronic fatigue but still -  not the way to go about it.

That‘s the first time I read about them doing a European festival. And usually I‘m quite up to speed with rumors about them. Can you find out where you read about it? Would be much appreciated.

It was on one of the European festival threads - maybe the Werchter one.

    • Looking like will be bringing a 2-3 month old to Glastonbury next year
    • Healey's first budget with be Oct 28th
    • Been going for 10 years. Wasn't massively keen on the lineup beforehand - although as usual after some research I did start to really look forward to it. We had a brilliant time, felt more like old school Latitude, lovely vibe and we met some nice people. We saw loads but highlights for me -   Lime Garden Florence Road Jalen Ngonda David Byrne - Not a fan of him or TH really but we went out of interest and it was one of those festival shows that you'll never forget. The staging was off the scale. Eleni Drake - Up on BBC Introducing, what a haven that stage is.  Westside Cowboy Getdown Services - Probably highlight of the weekend for me. Absolutely brilliant and have booked tix for them in Bristol next year. Everything Everything - They're my favourite band so I loved it when they were added. A great start to Sunday and met loads of their fans up near the front. Alex James Britpop - We enjoyed it and Gary Stringer FFS! David O'Doherty - Saw him twice, brilliant as usual. Self Esteem - Adore Rebecca and the show was as live affirming as always.   Overall, it was such a brilliant weekend. Beforehand we said that we might give it a miss next year but I'm pretty sure that we'll be sucked right back in!
    • Me too.  Reckon they must have more this year.   Not bad is it - ended up paying same price as this year.  It still represents great value for me.  Well, until I check my bank account the Monday after the weekend.
    • Well mayors have more powers to do that sh*t...but they have to make the numbers add up.
