Lady Gaga has just announced shows in Singapore this same weekend so she’s out. 
 

Tom Grennan does strike me as a “someone dropped out” headliner.

Tramlines sub headliner last year. Big weekend headliner is a bit of a push. I personally think Biffy is bigger than Tom Grennan .

If I’m honest , I am a little disappointed with that. It was feeling very strong with wombats / biffy Clyro on the Friday but the headliner was unfortunately not a step up.

 

Saturday & Sunday are normally the bigger days but I will keep my expectations low now just in case . I think the Friday won’t sell out very fast in its current form.

The announcement was also done in a confusing way which indicated that some of the previously announced names e.g. Lola Young will also be on the Friday, but they aren't on the Friday poster

Tom Grennan is shite but his tours are definitely bigger than what Biffy could do these days

Big Weekend timings / slots are always a bit strange to be honest. The Wombats under James Hype in their hometown is quite funny as well

This is clearly to replace the dance day because they didn't always manage to sell it as well (though Liverpool would be where I'd expect dance days to do well!). So this is the equivalent of Chase and Status last year

It makes sense not to be fully reliant on dance fans.

 

Liverpool big weekend should do well in anyway, theres plenty of people nearby. They need to get the format stronger for when it next ends up in the arse end of nowhere as thats where it struggles i guess!

I can understand it , because Tom grennan is trending and radio 1 big weekend has always surrounded promoting the trending artists.

 

i personally think that Tom Grennan simply isn’t big enough to be a headline , even for the Friday .
