Feels like this afternoon will determine Starmer's immediate fate. One of the big cabinet ministers resigns (Mahmood probs) and it's game over. No more resignations and he could hold on for longer.

If Burnham was an MP things would be moving a lot faster. The fact he isn’t an MP means some of Starmers biggest critics need him to stay in place.

Well, Burnham is in London, and is apparently meeting MPs. Maybe he will make some sort of public announcement.

She's resigned because starmer won't install surveillance software onto every phone and computer in the country?

PLOT TWIST!

Chuka Umunna just walked into No 10.

Pep Guardiola is who my money is on, looking for a new challenge after winning everything. Could be bringing Chuka into his backroom staff as he knows his way around the place.

It's looking more and more like a stay of execution with this new 100 signature letter.

Obviously he wont be PM next year but behind the scenes they can work something out where he gets to save face and leave at a later junction more on his terms.

They have to keep Starmer and Reeves in place because of the bond markets. That's all you need to know.

Very Trump like

Starts to feel slightly odd when markets dictate policy.

People seemed to love it when happened under Truss.

I would prefer a Starmer led government to a Streeting led one, most of his followers (that I have heard of) do not full me with confidence, just feels more of the same with a better communicator on top.

I think a Streeting led government would likely make me voting Labour less likely. The only thing that could make me hang on is the fact we have an excellent constituency mp.

it all started with Truss.

Also, it happened so quickly and she was rapidly removed and all her policies were reversed.

Now we're in a state that just the idea of removing Starmer and/or Reeves and changing the fiscal rules causes yields to rise, although there is other stuff going on today in middle east and US that are causing markets to move here and elsewhere.

I don't know...there's a lot of hate for Streeting but maybe he won't be that bad.

Problem is he doesn't really have a lot of support in the party or on the left, so not sure how he can make it work.

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
    • I was fully prepared (waterproof jacket, extra pair of socks, foldable umbrella), but after four hours in the rain (from Geese through Oklou to Florence Road), it was just too much. Already at the hotel, let's hope tomorrow's better.
    • It’s rare that I watch question time, but I almost felt sorry for Kenyon, he seemed like a guy just brought off the street which effectively is what he was, made worse by the fact Burnham and the Tory guy were very strong debaters. I think Burnham was very aware not to go too hard on Kenyon and risk him getting sympathy, in fact he pretty much ignored him.
