Howard webb contacted wolves when they should have had a blatant penalty at utd, the VAR and ref officials were dropped from the next weekend fixtures.

Pretty much an admission.

City a similar situation last season, when rashford was yards offside.

Was there not a game last season when VAR allowed a goal, due to the camera angle being int he wrong place?

Lets be honest everyone in football knew how liverpool was going to react.

It’s an almighty cock up as a result of user error, these things happen in football and outside football. You just have to learn from it and take moves to stop it happening again.

I wonder how many Liverpool fans are also fans of Lewis Hamilton still reeling from the almighty failure of race protocol at the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that cost Hamilton his 8th world title.

But all sports have officials that make errors, and as said, the PGMOL have issued 14 different apologies to multiple different clubs since the start of last season (one of whom seems to frequently be Brighton, who had 3 different apologies last season). It happens.

Ofc, if we have no VAR, that goal is still offside as the default view was offside. Worse blunders were made in the pre-VAR era than that one imo, it's just the desperation to rush the check saw the VARs somehow forget what they were meant to be doing. It's still a sh*t look, but it seems like something that may mean we need to rethink how we do this.

Does that not suggest that there are serious problems with the implementation of VAR.

Something that has been brought to the surface by Liverpool and hopefully changes will be made to improve it, benefiting all clubs.

But no lets mock and continue bring tribal.

no, the idea is flawed,  incidents and their decisions are mostly too subjective for a system like var.

That clip was just of miscommunication as a gateway to mutual incompetence, not any conspiracy, case closed.

Very much this. The idea that there is a conspiracy by PGMOL and the Premier League to fix matches against Liverpool is laughable. Liverpool is one of the biggest teams in the world, any success they have amplifies the Premier League brand around the world and helps them sell it.

As someone mentioned, Klopp hasn't demanded a replay, just said he'd like one. It's never going to happen. I think we'll just see improvements in comms by the VAR officials while a game is going on. After a decision is made, they will change from "check complete" to something like "player is onside, goal stands" or "player is offside, no goal" depending on the outcome. Just make it clearer.

He was a Liverpudlian, so was trump, both undeserved  victims.

Isn't it in connection with heysel?

For example 'never there fault, always the victim'.

No, it's Hillsborough and people saying it was the fault of Liverpool fans, even after it has been proven this was not the case.

For Heysel, people were charged,  onvicted and did time for it.

New VAR protocol for this weekends games according to the guardian:

Quote

New VAR guidelines in Premier League this weekend
PA Media are reporting that new VAR guidelines will be in use in the Premier League this weekend. It follows the now infamous confusion between Darren England (the VAR) and the referee Simon Hooper, which led to Luis Diaz’s goal for Liverpool being incorrectly disallowed for offside.

After audio of the incident was released on Tuesday, referees’ body PGMOL said it would develop a new VAR communication protocol, in an effort to avoid similar mistakes – and it appears that protocol will now be in force right away. PGMOL plan to “enhance the clarity of communication between the referee and the VAR team in relation to on-field decisions”.

VARs will now also confirm the outcome of the checking process with the assistant VAR before confirming the final decision to on-field officials, to avoid errors of miscommunication. The protocols should also allow for issues to be raised once play has restarted, which was not previously possible

But of course it was all about Liverpool and never meant to improve things for all teams.

I'm unsure it's just about Hillsborough, it probably has something to do with it. But also heysel, the suarez case when you all wore shirts to support a racist.
