Not sure you can conclude that.  Lots of factors come into play such as how many day tickets did they sell before calling it sold out.  Maybe they only had a few thousand, maybe other bands were the attraction or maybe it now forces anyone who wants to go on the Sunday to buy a weekend ticket.  A7X headlining in 2014 was a natural step and they were great.  2018 they were ok but their star has definitely fallen in recent years.

Okay, taking all that into factor, they've done well enough that at least taking tickets off sale is okay. They've had year on year without announcing day or weekend tickets selling out so there is no reason not to unleas they are good at least.

Fair enough but there’s been instances before (maybe not DL) where poor or less than expected sales, have resulted in a day being reported as sold out to try and stimulate 2 day or weekend sales. Not saying this has happened here but every other option of ticket remains available despite capacity being reduced by 25%.  Dare say we'll know soon enough how busy it is.

Someone on the official forum knows the special guest but won’t say. They did say they’ve been mentioned in the thread though.

There’s also been a Reddit post of someone who is adamant saying the set is a sub sized band in the Dogtooth on Sunday. The consensus seems to be Parkway Drive as they’re about over the weekend but have I think in the UK.

I’m hedging my bets on Paramore or Parkway.

Not sure why they'd put a bigger band as a secret set in Dogtooth but gaps in schedule would suggest you're correct..  That tent is bad enough without thousands piling into it at once.  I've seen a lot of good stuff in there but absolutely hate the location and layout.  I'd have it down towards VIP area and on flat ground

What I will say is that with Sundau selling out, nothing can be questioned on A7X being big enough.

Day tickets are probably only about 3000 to 5000. Especially with the capacity reduction....25% less overall is a big jump and 75000 is less than most years which normally get at least 80000+.

Limp Bizkit probably shifted more of those than AX7 did tbh.

Agreed. The location for dogtooth f**king sucks right now.

Is VIP where the NXT wrestling used to be?

To be honest they would have shifted for me. I wasn't going to go that day purely as I've no interest in the headliner and Sum 41 are going to obviously do final UK tour dates making it not worth the effort.

In case of interest of anyone, Kam Haq, Download promoter/booker is the guest on 2 Promoters, 1 Pod this week. Said he hopes Knocked Loose will be a headliner in the next 5-10 years and reckons Sleep Token will be headlining before that (not that that's a shock to anyone).

I think we all know Sleep Token are going to headline soon. As for Knocked Loose, really? I just don't see it.

Hi folks,

First time Downloader here, doing the Sunday despite the pretty eye watering day ticket cost I decided Bowling For Soup, Sum41, Limp and AS just about represented value for money.

I’ve had a look at the map and was surprised to see only two bars around the Apex Stage, plus reports of last year selling out of drink?

We are staying in a nearby hotel and so relying on an Uber to exit? Should I expect utter carnage?

My mate went last year and said it was horrifically busy, glad to see a 25% reduction this year and that really should be felt on the ground.

Many thanks. Looking forward to it, drink and transport permitting!!

He also said that they made offers for Foo Fighters and Green Day this year, as well as trying to sort out co-headliners on the Friday but it didn’t come off. He also mentioned NIN as a future headliner they want.

NIN would be brilliant. Yes please.

I'd be willing to say that Download won't ever get FF or Green Day. In my own opinion as well, Download don't regularly bill that is in favour of Green Day headlining. I can't say the same for Foos as they had same ADTR subbing them at others festivals. They will both get paid though to go more suited festivals when they have been away long enough. Glastonbury for Foos also wasn't about the money but I don't think they'll be there again soon. I think their special guest slot was maybe just a case of doing something nobody had done and it fitted. Not saying they didn't enjoy it but they won't do Glastonbury too much as it'll eat their own ticket fund. They actually compared to some their size as well keep their ticket prices slightly lower.

Weekend tickets are still on sale so all this talk of a Sunday sell out is just hype. A7X are the best on the bill for me (in theory) but yeah their light has faded. Last album is a bit weird. They've never really done it for me live either in 4 goes. It's good and technically excellent but just doesn't give me the feels like listening to their older stuff does. Last Download for me, it's looking a lot like 12/16/19 maybe even a bit 11 with the temps. I'll still have a blast I'm sure.

Sunday day tickets are sold out, or at least taken off sale. 15,000 Sunday arrivals according to the local planning flyer.

They're still on sale on ticketmaster. It's hype. This lot running Download just now really are hopeless. The list of U-turns and total c*ck ups is extraordinary and the festival hasn't even started yet.

Zulu and Speed have both pulled out due to the Barclays sponsorship, possibly more acts but those were the ones that just popped up on my socials.

I did wonder if this would start to happen. Great Escape Festival in Brighton last month had 163 acts pull out (according to the BBC). The problem is pretty much every major festival (and a lot of smaller independents) are partnered with Barclaycard so where does it end?!

Scowl and Pest Control also appear to have pulled out.  Surely they all knew Barclays were a festival sponsor for ages and leaving it until the Monday prior to the festival to announce they're out is bit off.   Wonder if others will follow

They must have done, it’s been a sponsor for years hasn’t it?

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
