I think we are missing a rap headliner also 🤷🏼‍♂️

Not really huge fan of rap or hip-hop, but I would like to see Tyler, the Creator again Post Malone or Kendrick Lamar 🙃

I'm pretty sure Leaks' "at least" meant we are missing two rock headliners
Dua>Billie, Bieber>Dragons, Harris>Guetta, TameImpala>Florence and now we're missing Monkeys and KOL's replacements

I don't think there has to be the same set of genres/headliners as the last year. In 2017/18/19 we had a rap headliner but didn't 2022. Also there was 1 pop headliner in 2019 but 2 in 2022 🤷🏼‍♂️ ....

@Sziget2023_Leaks Is it a conscious thing from Sziget to have less rap music this year and last year or just difficulty of booking? I'm still hopeful for some decent hiphop names in the undercard but I think it's weird that there is practically zero hiphop in the first list of names. There are 6-7 names I like in this lineup so far but it desperately needs some hiphop imo. Do you think we will get that?

Do we know about Green Day for R&L all but confirmed?

Someone on the R&L forum is saying that MCR are now in and someone dropped out, which is likely Green Day

There‘s so much more to come, don’t worry.

Any of RHCP, Blur, Green Day, MCR, blink-182, Faith No More, Eagles of Death Metal, SOAD/Serj Tankian, Paramore, The Strokes, QOTSA, Weezer, U2, Metallica, Placebo, RATM would make me happy. 😁

He already ruled out The Strokes in one of his other posts 😭 They're in Spain at the end of August so not sure what the reason is.

Maybe ruled out only for the first announcement 😛

I think most rock bands that could headline Sziget are at least 15-20 years old. 😁

Rock headliner slot is still in negotiations with bands from the UK and the US as well. Can’t give you anything specific rn so don’t get your hopes up just yet.

thanks for this 😉 !

Being a rock-metal fan, I've been thinking a lot about this slot, and thought Red Hot Chili Peppers or Green Day would perfectly fit (EVERYONE know some songs of those 2 bands, even the non-rock fans).

Since then, I found out RHCP are doing June-July fests' , and Green Day is busy with new album, and MIGHT have pulled out from R&L...

So of course the UK bands would be "easier" to book : Placebo..? The Cure ..? Royal Blood ..? (I consider Blur as a Pop band) ; but if Sziget is also trying US bands, my money remains on Green Day, My Chemical Romance or Pearl Jam (considering Guns & Roses are out of reach, since they're in Europe in June already).

I really hope it isn't MCR. They might have a big fan base but most Sziget-goers were still in primary school when MCR last released an album.

A double-header of Biffy Clyro and Royal Blood would suit me down to the ground if some of the bigger names are unavailable or too expensive.

    • We'll see. Bristol and Leeds are both massively overdue big public transport investment - 2 of the cities with the worst transport infrastructure per capita in Western Europe. If this works to help support investment projects great and fair play to Burnham.
    • The Bródy Day was his idea because Sziget has always been late when it comes to this kind of concert. They would only organize farewell performances or tribute shows after an artist had passed away. Since Bródy is one of the country's greatest singer-songwriters, they wanted to honor him while he is still alive. (He didn't say it exactly like that, but the man is 80 and has just stopped playing large concerts.) He never understood why anyone would focus exclusively on one generation, especially Gen Z, who have less disposable income, drink less, and are, in his words, "afraid of partying." He explained that in the past, people loved festivals because of the nonstop partying, whereas many younger people today find that experience overwhelming or exhausting. That's one of the reasons why Sziget will introduce more chill zones and sensory-friendly spaces. They also want to attract older generations, who are generally more willing and able to spend money. The Sziget Icons days are aimed at this audience, and in the future they hope to create a more balanced lineup that appeals to people over 35 as well.   It was a long interview. If anything else comes to mind, I'll share it.
    • Maybe you need a groovy mayor who can get you the money.   Anyway, looks like mayors going to get a whole load of fiscal devolution and greater powers...so best everyone gets one, a decent one, and get a load of Madchesterism.
