Pregnancy at R&L Festivals - Good Idea

So last November I brought my wife tickets for her and I, along with an AirBnB for the weekend at Reading.

We've just taken a test and she is 3 weeks pregnant, the weekend of Reading she will be 21 weeks pregnant. I brought the tickets as it is something we'd never done together and wanted to do before we hit 30 and had children etc. 

 

Is it a good idea to go to Reading 5 months pregnant, or should I look at cancelling the AirBnB and selling the tickets?

 

For information, 5 months is just when your showing but just before the needing to pee constantly stage.

Pretty sure you probably want to be asking a doc as opposed to us idiots.

If it was me personally and it was my fiancé who was pregnant, I wouldn’t risk taking her along. So echoing above, you should seek the advice of a medical professional for sure.

Definitely not the best bunch to ask, maybe try on the glastonbury forums as i bet someone over there has/knows someone who's been in the same situation. Sounds like it would be an absolute nightmare to me honestly at 5 months.

Personally I'd sell the tickets and not risk it. It wasn't pleasant at times last year with all the chaos and queues at a sold out Leeds, so I can't imagine what it would be like to do it at five months pregnant!

Can't speak for Reading but Leeds would be the absolute last place I'd take a pregnant woman. Too many knobheads.

When my sister was pregnant they went to much friendlier festivals (older crowds) and she was totally fine, although she had 3/4 men carrying her stuff around 😅

The correct course of action is to use it as an excuse to go with mates instead. 

Esp if you fear that it may be your last chance!

You deffo won’t want to be doing it with an 8 month old!

Congratulations. Yeah consult a doc but I'd say you wouldnt want to be mixing with all those unhygienic peeps at a festival

I suspect the physical aspect would be more of a concern than hygiene, esp as he’s in a hotel.

Again mumsnet will be the best place to ask if he is serious!

Anytime i've seen Reading discussed on there it boils down to a mum being convinced that their child will die from a dodgy pill or come back as Pete Doherty circa 2007

Probably a bit late to reply, but any festival genuinely is manageable, especially if you're staying off site. More of my concerns would relate to camping. Depends what Mum to be is comfortable with, but my first child was at Leeds in 2009 at similar stage. Must be near identical - as she was due around Xmas and was born the first week 2010. There's always areas you can watch a stage from a distance to be cautious,but I'd imagine 5 months for most isn't too bad for mobility etc. 

And I'm thinking of taking her on a day ticket this year for her first visit

I've had friends go when they were pregnant. They turned out to be quite useful for some of their friends as they didn't have their camping seat checked for booze, because security just assumed they wouldn't be trying to sneak alcohol into the arena.
