It’s worth remembering that Kantar don’t include ‘don’t knows’ so this is like the Opinium polls. Plus fieldwork was started before the budget.

How long do you think she and Kwasi have? Boris already prepping his return?

Depends how long this instability goes on for I guess.

As for Boris...who knows? Membership like him, but what about MPs...maybe they would if polling indicated they could win next election with him back as leader.

So, can a general election be called or do we have these fun and games until 2024?

Oh yeah a general election can be called if the PM wants one, it falls under royal prerogative again.

However given the state of the polls it’s unlikely the PM will chose to do that so currently the next election isn’t till Jan 2025.

If we do get growth of 2%+ in the next few years Truss will be able to do a massive told you so to all those doomster lefty remainer economists in the city and IMF etc.

That’s purely a hypothetical as so much can happen and besides peoples personal finances might be impacted so negatively by then that growth of any % won’t matter.

In the end any growh will likely be caused by what is going on internationally, not by what Kwarteng or Truss have done...but if they do get 2.5% growth they will do a massive told you so until the cows come home.

The main thing IMF were worried about was not UK growth, but a big economy like ours doing stupid fucking things in an already unstable international economic situation.

    • Ok, ok, I have done it! Not because of limitless upvoats but to support the Efestivals site.
    • She was/is 100% in the mix, but I don't know specific timings and how it relates to that interview. They've clearly gone after her, again.   It could be read in a number of ways - she was in negotiations at that point, she was talking about BST (and he's interpreted it, as we have, as Glastonbury). Who knows
    • So sad to see the news that John Douglas of the Trashcan Sinatras has died. They only released their latest album last week and it is wonderful.  So underrated and a member of such a great long running band that have meant so much to me over the last 40 years. https://trashcansinatras.com/blogs/news/john-douglas-1963-2026
    • listening to jamie east's podcast earlier he said that he'd heard fender is confirmed, and that as of 2 weeks ago Madonna hadn't been approached.
    • which would make that Graham Norton interview nonsense .... although obviously things change
