He also was quite instrumental in the 2012 Olympics bid being successful and that’s quite fondly remembered as a good event for the country.

Yeah, obviously but I think the mega fame celebrity thing came from the celebrity wedding. Not all England captains are that famous. Tbh though I barely think about him any more, kind of forget he existed.

Yeah, maybe. He was definitely super famous for a while whilst she really wasn't, they have helped each other with the fame thing. For a while he was probably one of most well known footballers in the world, he obviously wasn't one of the best although up there with his pin point long passing and free kick thing, and his record is pretty good really with ManU, Real Madrid and England.

Maybe he'll be our first president.
