Javid is spineless, it’s clear restrictions need to be brought back in some form yet they refuse to do so. This press briefing is an irrelevance.

It feels pretty pointless. When he said it could get to 100,000 a day he almost sounded excited about it.

you know, he said this in the summer too...and then it didn't and everyone thinks it's all over. Is there some super clever reverse psychology shit going on here?

His priority will be keeping people in offices to help his landlord mates. They should be acting now, after that report last week it was said you need to act earlier than you think and the government are again making the mistakes of last year.

Yeah that's a good point. Pick a really high number and then everything else looks better than that.

It was a cynical political play...and it worked a treat for the govt.

A look in the cesspool thread and you can see where it is used to show how the current situation isn't a problem and isn't worthy of any social mitigations to deal with the ongoing high number of cases...because the cases are sooooo much lower than the 100k predicted.

Javid really seems like a slimy little libertarian turd

Funny, was just describing him in very similar language in my rant at the radio during his presser!

It was his attitude that he's in control, the govt are on top of this, it's all part of their plan etc etc that gets my goat when once again the govt have left things far too late and have been shamed into doing something...and that something on closer inspection amounts to little more than a pile of beans <sigh>

‘Is there more the government like be doing?’

’Yes there is and we (the government) are doing more.’

Everything they spout is drivel and lies.

I had my flu jab yesterday, feel like shit today, never reacted like this before, aches,  coughing, runny nose. I appreciate the jab is meant to protect but at the moment its laughing at me. Need to have a rummage for my man suit, put it on and zip it up, I know.

He’s the health of the ‘economy’ secretary, not the public.

He seems to know better than all the Medical bosses and experts; what could possibly go wrong.

Just reading it now (I still read it sometimes but just don't want to contribute due to the aggressive posting style of most of the inhabitants!)...

Ha good plan!

Probably best just to leave them to it. Posting and then getting angry about Tweets seems to mostly keep them occupied

    • Yeah I do agree on the 2 hour thing. But if they were subbed by Biffy/WA only doing 75 mins or so would be doable.   Only reason I suggested them was because we know they're back doing shows here next year.
    • Its probably the culmination of issues that have been simmering under the surface for a while. Spain ran a regularisation program recently that allows undocumented individuals to obtain temporary legal status and then a route to EU citizenship. 1.2 million applied. At the same time Montenegro is having to close its citizenship via investment program as part of EU ascension talks.    Countries are obviously asking, why are we having to reject investors whilst others can wave anyone in?
    • I'm not sure, they aren't giving any headliner in that format 2hours and Foos would have at least 2. I wouldn't say Reading is likely for them next year either. If they are as said going big on a tour with stadiums and festivals then the UK is once place they can definitely do stadiums and that would rule them out. And that's even if they come back for a second UK stint as I fully expect them in Europe from very early. That could be seen as hyperthetical but there are is some places I cannot see them not doing from history.
    • One problem could be that many of the hospitality packages are already sold out. Unless you’ve a media contact, media organisations normally get a hospitality allocation.
