The whole idea of a Jewish homeland is bullshit. Just do what other religions do; pretty sure other religions don't have "homelands"

Mecca?

Almost like the actions of a peoples government don't represent all of the people. Certainly wouldn't like to be held to account for the actions of British government but Israeli's and Jews don't often get granted that privilege.

Geopolitics is easy when you can condense your world view into good guys and bad guys

its almost as if som people want to belive isreals plan had always been to cage the paleastinians into a small strip of land when israel would have accepted the palestininans in a large part of that territory

And it's easy to just ignore shit and sit on the fence when you lie to yourself and claim "it's a complicated issue, there's no black and white!"

could say that was the hamas strategy too... cos the land available fore the palastiians has shrunk away to almost nothing via their strATEGY

Wow, blaming the Palestinians for their loss of land and not Israel. Go fuck yourself c**t

I'm simply pointing out that continual conflict has seen the land available to them reduced even from friendly states such as Jordan actions have consequences.their actions their consequences.

Wasn't aware I was ignoring or sitting on the fence on anything, barely contributed to this discussion but continue to build up a straw man fella. Actions of Israeli government/settlers are deplorable and a peaceful two state solution is the only workable solution.

In your one state solution which presumably involves Israel ceasing to exist what happens to the jewish population under Hamas/PA?

Is that a workable solution?

Depends on many things, right now left wing (and even centrist!) parties in Israel are in disarray, Netanyahu seems hellbent on using the "conflict" for his own political gain and the other parties who he is trying to form a coalition with don't seem to care much for peace talks either. Hamas' control of Gaza is also a huge hurdle.

This video from 2019 is very informative on the whole issue, I highly recommend it

Yes everyone thinks partition was a wonderful thing and when India/Pakistan tensions are high everyone thinks well done Britain for a fantastic solution.

The fact that much 20th Century border drawing was pretty shitty doesn't mean that generations later you can undo them and Gilgamesh is clearly out to provoke a reaction but I think it's fair to say that creation of Israel has been a mess.

I mean Palestine was part of the Ottoman empire until the end of WWI, trying to attach quite western notions of nation states to areas which have incredibly disparate and complicated communities was the real disaster and Israel/Palestine is the perfect example of that.

It wasn't so much the British solution but the solution of some Indian politicians where those people ended up in powerful positions. I was simply pointing out that there's a lot of similarities to Israel of a religious state on Simone else's land.

But like Israel it's not a situation which can be undone as that simply puts other problems back in place

The situation as is it is a long way from those western notions.ifvitcwas possible to time travel back to 1947.id guess there's be greater Palestinian acceoptebce if those western notions as they were better than how things have turned out in the meantime.

    • 1000% agree with this. I was there last night, ridiculous how good he was.
    • Hi Everyone!   I need your help. I'm trying work out who was playing at The Wishing Well at 3am on the Monday morning at the 2025 festival - this was once the official setlist had ended. The music was down tempo, bass heavy, kept evolving, just mesmerising. Anyone have any ideas? and/or was there as well?
