I read recently families with incomes less than $40k have been priced out of mcdonald's under Biden/Harris. I don't think we realise how fundamental that is to working class voting habits. It's like Italians being priced out of pasta.

If it had been close (particularly if decided on Pennsylvania) the decision to pick coach Tim as VP would have been really questionable, the scale of the result however means it made no difference.

Kinda like that worldwide right? McDonald’s has gone from being incredibly cheap and affordable to pretty pricey - no more dollar menu ect.

I doubt it. He’s run on a campaign of revenge and now has the Presidency, House, and Senate and absolutely nothing to lose. Maybe it won’t be as extreme as some are expecting, but it isn’t gonna be pretty.

Old school Republicanism is dead, it is now the maga party. This happening elsewhere too and will likely increase, old right conservative parties being replaced by populists...who target migrants and net zero

Apparently they all had dinner and got on all very well and Lammy even got offered seconds which means Trump likes him 

Starmer and Trump so different though, and with Trump it's all about deals that suits his side, so that will be the relationship.

Yup, this was the chance to turn the tide but America has instead decided this is the path forward they want.
 

Not wanting to punish the people who didn’t vote for him, but I really hope his economic plan is as disastrous as many people have predicted and the people who voted for him suffer because of it.

Anyone else toying with deleting their Twitter/X account? I know it's a small and futile gesture but this result is going to encourage it to be worse and the last 2 years have already seen it deteriorate in quality.

European countries will have to get used to not being reliant on US for security, which will mean increased defense spending which will be difficult for many, including us
