Shed Seven have had two No.1 albums this year. I know record sales blah blah etc etc, but thats pretty impressive considering everything.

(and by everything i mean they're a band who have had at best half an idea, and that idea was last vaguely relevant in 1997! 😄 im only saying this cos a good pal of mate is an enthusiastic and effusive Shedder, and it's perturbed me for over quarter of a century now)

I must admit, I've never quite got Shed Seven. I understand why people get plenty of bands, because sometimes, the hooks are just there. Chasing Rainbows is however by some distance their best song - and there's not that many others that have lived on beyond that.

However, full power to them. They'll sell nothing this week, but if they've managed to shift 25,000 copies of Liquid Gold, there's enough to suggest that they can do that in sales between these three shows. (A little less, if anything.)

I’m a fan and think they have some great singles that appeal to a certain generation- Going for Gold is up there with Chasing Rainbows and On Standby, Getting Better, Cry for Help, Disco Down are all big singalong tunes.

They did the Principality in 2022, was on the BBC and looked like the full setup. The Welsh gig won't be an issue for sure

No real North West date though which is annoying, Huddersfield isnt the easiest to get home from

Yeah that show I assumed would sell well. It's the others that are more of a surprise.

Now Disco Down is a great singalong, will concur.

Must say, saw them in York earlier this year, with a few pints in me, and had a jolly time despite the weather, so it's maybe the mood.

    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
    • Maybe some right wing leaders like Meloni are just playing to their base, like Reform have been here talking about them ending up at Calais.
    • Citizenship via investment programs basically work by saying if you invest this much in our economy (say buy a property worth x) then we will either grant you citizenship or residency with a route to it. The EU has rules on how low countries can set the bar. Montenegro was one of the easier ones to get and they've had to tighten it up.
