You know I hate to ask, but are friends electric?

Dedicated to Shaun, a 240 volt electric friend, whose company I am missing. Must make this situation less so. And I have just thought of a way of sorting it.

Peace to all.

Oh, and sorry for putting that one back on AGAIN!

Couldn' think where I had heard this before, was sure I had not heard the original as only 4 when released and certainly not the type of music parents listened to. Anyway it appears it was used for sugababes "freak like me". Conundrum solved.

Hello slash's hat,

The Sugarbabes thing is coming at me in an ever so hesitant way. I'm fairly sure that I've heard it, but cannot guarantee anything. And why would you guarantee anything? Nobody else does, which is why the world has such a vast insurance market, I suspect. Anyway, at some point in the near future I will look up the Sugarbabes thing. Oh bollocks to it, I'm off to do it now.

I'm not sure that I have heard it from the Sugababes now, and definitely haven't seen the associated video before. I'd like to listen to that song again and watch the video, when I'm 'feeling a little bit better' ie when I have full access to and control of my brain. This cannot be said to be the case,  at the moment.

Nice - Did you  catch them at Bearded Theory the other year?they were superb on the Woodland stage.

Now here are the Ruts

I did. Best festival performance of that year for me. Ruts DC were excellent on The Pallet a few yeats back so looking forward to seeing them again.

The frightening thing is that my ma in law once sang to her grandchildren 'Don't you wish your Grandma was hot like me?'

Loving it...saw him recently at the Manchester Academy, his new music is just as good as the older stuff, here's a snippet of the latest, Ruin, I took at the gig:

Bugger, just seen that i missed them in Southampton a couple of days ago. Last time was nearly 40 years ago at Knebworth in '78

they're probably still doing the same show. :P

He did about 5 costume changes during the set, with the get-up for White Punks much the same as in that vid. Very probably the same glasses, and I reckon it might be the same wig but with 40 years of extra wear.

this was their third tour in 3 years, and he kept saying how much they love playing the UK. Bristol sold out last time, and I'm pretty sure it did again this time.

So I reckon they might be round again next year.

You're right they probably are.

Although my memory is very hazy i do remember that they played a couple of Who songs as Keith Moon had died that weekend. It was also the only festival i've been to without a liquor licence, but i have a feeling that was something to do with violence that year at Reading from Sham 69's skinhead following

    • Would you decide to go once more I recommend to queu up at the official freenow taxi line. It might take 15 min or so but they are not ripping you off. Even at 3 or 4 in the night it costed us about 25eur to the city center.
    • How do you mean? Better as a hotel/ festival combo?   I've done rock am ring at both sites.....unpopular opinion I much preferred the mending site and really didn't like the long and narrow main stage at RaR.
    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
