Although I've been to Glastonbury a number of times, I've never stayed in the pre-erected tents of Worthy View. So I'm opening it up for anyone who can provide some advice.

From the basics to the more detailed - go nuts!

Thanks ;)

Stayed there last year with my family.

It was brilliant.

The big cafe tent does Belgium Waffles at the end of the night, which are excellent as you recline on the comfy couches after the walk up the hill.

We actually enjoyed stopping off each night at Strummerville  for an hour before heading up the last leg to the cafe then to bed as the Sun rises.

Showers are good but get up early to avoid the big queues.

Stayed there in '15 and will be doing so again this year.

It's brilliant, much more organised than the main site, which could mean it's better or worse depending on how organised you like things to be. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. We arrived at about 0930hrs on the Wednesday morning and there were about 50 cars in the field and about 30 people in the queue, processed nice and quickly then escorted to our tent.

Toilets were spotless and cleaned regularly. I didn't think much of the food options up there to be honest but things might have changed by now.

The only final thing I'll add is "THE HILL" up and down to the entrance gate at Pennards. It is steep.....!! I do a fair bit of hill walking so I was fine with it but just a word of warning that it is strenuous, especially when returning after a night on site in what ever state you might be returning in.

Enjoy your stay fellow Worthy Viewers:).

Not staying there this year, but did so last year. Can only agree with what has been said above, it's not that bad at all. Really the only downer was the quality of the ground made any late night excursions to the facilities a bit of a faff from the bell tents as full boots were needed to negotiate the mud.

The views from the cafe/market section are great. Dropping into Strummerville on the way home always made for a nice end to each day and the proper posh toilets by the farm building were very good. Never bothered with the showers so cannot comment on those.

If the ground is fine then you are only about 10 minutes from the railway track so it is not as remote as you'd think.

A load of us stayed in a campervan last year and so we had to do the Hill Of Death over that way. Is it anything like that? Worse?

Not too sure mate, I've not tackled that particular one. The one at WV is a good 1:1-1:2 for about 250m.

Just to clarify. The WV Hill does have a proper staircase. With handrails. Just take your time, pause for a breather, let people pass etc. Will take 2-3 minutes but you only need to do it once, maybe twice a day. I'm a fat bastard and it doesn't bother me.

I find the staircase has made it harder as you have to break stride to step up/step down.

Funny thing about the Worthy View area, I used to steward it a few years ago when it was farmland and was charged with keeping festival goers off it.

I'd say it's steeper than those pictures definitely but just take ur time . Take all u need down during day as u won't want to go back to tent till ur finished for night. All facilities r fine nice to stop at strummerville on way back for beer . Coming back from pyramid or other after a headliner can be a bit gridlocked by south east corner.  Long drops by strummerville r fine and more toilets at top of hill by bars b4 u go back into wv

The Hill of Death by Gate C has a name, and the WV hill doesn't. So that fills me with more confidence.

WV is steeper than the hill of death. I think the hill of death mainly gets its name as lugging all your gear up it to get back to the car after 5 days of being smashed can take it out of you a little!

Staying in WV for the first time this year solely down to convenience whilst still recovering from a bike accident. Looking forward to being parked within a couple 100 yards from the tent and not having to carry everything 1.5 miles!

The hill isn't that bad in my opinion (stayed there twice). Most of it is stepped which makes things easier, especially in the rain.

I haven't used the showers, my gf did but she got up early to avoid queues.

The toilets are kept very clean but queues can be long in the mornings.

Also to note there is sometimes a random search on entry through Pennard Hill Gate from Worthy View. Most of the time they just check wristbands, but me and my mates have been searched once or twice, probably just bored security.

This......!! I had a very very very close shave down there once. Absolutely shit myself, I thought once into WV everything was fine and dandy but they do indeed carry out searches at the bottom of the hill. Stay safe people;)

The queues for the posh toilets can definitely be long so I just stick to the portaloos, which are kept clean.

The queues for the showers are far, far worse for the women (surprise), but I've never had to queue more than 10 minutes for the men's. Keeps getting bigger up there, though.

Same. They searched my mate all the way into his wallet, but just did my pockets. Close shave.

Saying that I've never been searched on entry to WV. Pretty much waved through. I expect that will be different this time.

It was some woman who searched me, she checked me over good and proper, top to toe, all apart from one of my shorts pockets were I had a considerable amount of, well, you get the idea. It really threw me for hours afterwards, I was just sat in the stone circle field thinking fuck me, fucking hell....!! Soon snapped out of it though:D

I was working on Pennards Hill Gate last year with Oxfam and the security there said that gate was the worse for people getting caught with drugs. How accurate that info is I'm not sure but once Friday has come obviously it's the busiest gate so maybe

I can only assume that some people who, once they are into WV think everything is cool and the gang, as I did, are then much more relaxed about where they hide their wares and when an unexpected search is carried out on entrance to the site proper at the bottom of the hill then things are much more easily found....!!

    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
