is it me or is it dead quiet on here this year? Im sure this time the last few years towards the end of the year we`ve all been obsessing over the announcements possibly dropping soon soon soon etc, yet this year  hardly a peep out of anyone, Nothing even rumouring to have anymore announcements anytime soon let alone anyone seeming to expect one. I confess I barely check these boards as of late because there`s just `nothing`

soooo must be time for a shock announcement from the `eavis`s` :P

Yeah from a marketing perspective why would anyone consider this time of year a good idea for an announcement?

But on the topic of announcements I'm assuming the next two will be one artist each - Foos and Ross (in no particular order, as per rumours)

I would assume Ed will be the one kept for closer to the main lineup

You've only been on here since April ;)

Bear in mind that this far away from the Festival, it's usually the 3 headliners and the legends slot that are getting the majority of the speculation.. If the talk is quiet that's probably because everyone thinks those slots are nailed on already.

The discussion about lower slots, other headliners, pyramid subs, etc tends to kick in more in January / February.

Because everyone already knows the headliners?

I mean fair play to Neil for providing as accurate as possible news as fast as he did, though I'm guessing establishing that it was going to be Ed and Foos so soon has poured cold water on a lot of the frenzied rumours and website hits there usually is at this time... a site with less integrity might be teasing random rumours to generate hits.

edit: ... and it's Christmas

As much as I agree, we had already whittled the options down to ed and foos - with a couple of other alternatives (Gaga) several days before Neil did all but confirm it. Admittedly we still would have been looking for a way out of ed/foos at this point had it not been confirmed but we were most definitely there or thereabouts

Like most, I was a lurker for a few years on here, then started posting... To be honest I think most years have a thread similar to this.

Or a comment in the headliners thread.

A year ago we were pretty confident of the 3 headliners. Same this year. I think from a "non pyramid headliner" point of view - there is a much wider choice than usual. Alsorts of names knocking about.

    • I agree but anyone under Rodrigo would be a sub in reality, that day would sell out in under an hour whoever is subbing, in which case Wolf Alice would make a lot of sense   The more unrealistic part of the scenario at this point is Rodrigo headlining
    • All you can say is...     If he couldn't convince nations that really would've benefitted from the short-term hit of an up-front £50mil payment by this time next year, what hope did he have?   Guess we'll now just have to monitor and see if this could derail Infantino's plans to be re-elected FIFA President next year.
    • Spider-Man: Brand New Day   Highlight was a bloke reacting to the post-credit scene by going "Holy f**k it's Tobey Maguire!" despite the scene having no reference to him at all. Which made my close-to-full screening of the film laugh a lot.   Film was pretty good. It was interesting as much as an exploration of the ramifications of the end of No Way Home and being about isolationism and male loneliness, which I thought it actually did quite well. Though I do ponder if I liked it as much as the other 3 Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. Sadie Sink was good tbf, while I also liked Jon Bernthal as Punisher, enough that I might go watch his Disney+ shows.   Seem to have had a Marvel kick recently having also watched Thunderbolts and Shang-Chi, both of which I thought were pretty good.
    • Wolf Alice won't get headliner for Reading either, they will sub if they play, that is where their level has stopped I feel. Both TFG and Skyvip for the big shows this year was just a stretch too far. Every headliner this year is bigger than them too I'd say.   Agree with Capaldi I don't think Yungblud will be at Reading. I would guess Bludfest 3 or Download.
