Charity Bins 2016

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Glastonbury 2016 is approaching, which means it's time for another 100 charity bins to be sold off to raise money for CARE International. We raised over £5000 last year with the government matching bonus and have raised over £10000 in the last few years :)

There have been bins sponsored by bands, comedians, artists, school classes, fire stations, on behalf of those who have passed away and to celebrate the birth of those who have a life of festivals to attend.

All 100 have sold out every year, so don't delay, sponsor a bin today! ^_^

awesome idea for a worthy cause do you get to choose a little design to paint on the bin? or is it random?

My profile pic is the design Dan did for us (for a contribution to the charity, obviously) from last year.  I gave him an idea of what we wanted and he did the rest including letting me know which field it was in.  Looking for "our" bin in the pyramid field, ciders in hand, made for a lovely start to the festival.  Will be doing the same this year I think - just need to decide on what to have put on it.

Being a bit slow, once I've sponsored will someone nudge at some point, or do I need to teach myself to be vigilant?

All the photos of the bins are put up on twitter as and when they do them. Just keep your eye on that (or this thread!)

Sorry, do I need to make a request, or will they do all sorts of designs and then designate one for me?

I told you I'm slow russy ;)

You request.

You donate via the justgiving link above, and a text box appears. In that you tell them what you want them to paint on the bin. Then as and when they paint the bins, they post on twitter a photo of the bin, and tell you roughly where it'll be (eg west holts/pyramid/whatever).

Simple and fun!

Thanks very much.  Seems a missed the purpose of the text box, d'oh.

I'll send a PM.

We didn't find our first bin in 2013, but found it the next two years.  Last years was this one, which was in West Holts.   A fantastic cause, and a great idea, have just ordered a bin for this year!

It says in the description, read below for rules, but I can't see any.

Does anyone know what you can get, are names acceptable (or even initials)?

The only thing I can tell you is what I was advised when I asked for something naughty "we have to keep words to a minimum, and everything has to be child friendly"

Certainly initials are fine, as that's what I've gone for instead.

Some computers seem to not see the Story on the side, no idea why?

Here they are :)

That time of year is approaching once again, the line-up has been announced, the greatest party on Earth....

GLASTONBURY 2016!

As is now tradition, we'll be painting personalisedbins for anyone kind enough to make a donation to CARE International. Last year we raised £5000, helping save the lives of thousands of people, let's try and beat that figure this year, do something great and sponsor your very own Glastonbury bin!

Make sure to leave what you want on your bin and your name in the comment! (Read below for rules)

  • There are 100 guaranteed charity bins in easy to find locations for those who make the minimum donation
  • £25 donation - Guaranteed bin + tweet and instagram of your bin and where to find it
  • <£25 donation - All efforts will be made to get your bin done, but will be once the others have been finished
  • £25+ Skip to the front of the queue!
  • Refrain from sending photos of people/pets, they will be done but don't forget that we have 14,000 bins to paint, so it may have to be rushed and look naff!
  • No words or telephone numbers (minimal initials are OK)
  • Requests must be family friendly (no distressing scenes, no sexual anything, no David Cameron)
  • You cannot request your bin to be in a specific area, bins are sometimes moved around after painting.
Let's make this the best Glastonbury yet, see you all in a field soon!
