"Once again five newcomers for Rock Werchter 2016". Atleast shows that these artists are lower on the bill and probably won't reflect the bookings for the mainstage

Where does it say that? I read "Once again five new names for Rock Werchter 2016".

Richard Hawley definitely isn't a newcomer. I saw him there in 2013.

Pinkpop organiser confirms in an interview that the whole European leg of the PJ tour is cancelled.

That's the worst news there is!

What position will PJ Harvey likely play? Barn headliner or 3rd on the mainstage?

PJ Harvey clashing with the Editors, now that would be a bit harsh.

Tough choice that one.

That's why I hope she'll end up 3rd on the main stage as in 2011, although I'm sure it'll be much better in the Barn.

Don't really know any of the additions so that's a bit disappointing but hopefully they're just putting out random announcements rather than leaving all the filler until the end.

Any recommendations or what each of these artists are similar too so I can delve into a few that are similar to my tastes? EDIT: Please!

PJ Harvey - Rid of Me.

Don't know if that's helpful as I don't think she plays much/any of it live and her sound has changed a fair bit but it should appeal to your tastes as an alternative rock fan and serve as an introduction, probably.

Well, I'm sure you know PJ Harvey even if you think you don't. She's been in a lot of movie soundtracks and appeared with other musicians too (Nick Cave, Tricky and more). I think @dentalplan recommendation is a good one to start with.

In order to get into Richard Hawley, you'll need to put an effort. Not everybody is into his "Retro" style. Maybe start with Standing At The Sky's Edge.

Parov Stelar reminds me of St. Germain, more upbeat and less sophisticated.

Courtney Barnett has just one album, so there isn't many options to start from ;) . To me its sounds like she's trying to be an early-days-PJ-Harvey.

Just listened to parov Stelar. They just sound like chart dance music. Not for me at all.

If you like pulp you'll like Richard Hawley. Courtney Barnett is really good like, hope she's in the barn.

PJ Harvey is great, but not really someone I'd consider to be a festival act. I'd much rather watch her in a theatre or academy venue

As long as she is on last it will be okay, don't want to have the same problems portishead had a few years ago.

Just been looking at the setlist from the first night of Bruce Springsteens US tour. 20 "The River" tracks and 14 "Greatest Hits" so there's hope for those who aren't fans of the album if he ends up at RW :)

A show of more than 3h30 !

    • I thought some time back that I could see Get Down Services getting a slot in Woodsies
    • Tickets on sale when I'm abroad (I'm assuming this sells out in minutes), and the actual dates could not be worse for me work-wise. Still going to try to get tickets, of course, but god damn!
    • I'm personally confident that Slipknot will be one of the headliners next year (no insider info just lines up with them likely releasing an album soon)    Then there's the headliner that's never played the festival before which the bookers have alluded to so that's one of Blink, Foos, NIN, Nickelback and possibly Pearl Jam or even Bon Jovi    The third band I also think will be a new headliner who are being bumped up so Deftones, Offspring, Paramore Etc.    I'd love Slipknot, Foos and Paramore but realistically i'd go with Slipknot, Blink and Deftones
    • Loads of people have to listen to music they don't like all day, while at work!   Not much different.
    • Generally shorter too, I imagine. 🙂
