Odd, really odd. Never ever have they started ticket sales without giving names for each day, and now they'd rather stall the Thursday sales for a full month than giving us some smaller names (which doesn't seem to be an issue for the other days). What's wrong with giving us something like PJ Harvey, Biffy Clyro or Tenacious D, aka acts that have been certainties for weeks now?

There's still a chance for Monday announcement, isn't it?

I think there are a few options. Either they don't have a Barn headliner / sub / main stage closer on the Thursday yet or they being realistic: Lets say they already got Major Lazer (or Disclosure or Macklemore) to close the mainstage on Thursday. How many people will buy that Thursday ticket now? How many people will buy combi-ticket now that there are names for each day? I think it won't affect much.

Its clear that something went wrong either if its with Pearl Jam or not. In that case Im sure they better have flexibility with artists (e.g Headliner that wont accept Major Lazer to play after him or a package deal with some other artists).

On the other hand, If they are announcing more names for the other days, they'll have the risk that people who normally purchase a combi ticket will opt to buy only a day ticket. If I were local and PJ Harvey got announced for the Saturday then I would have buy Saturday ticket only.

Anyway, there's nothing to worry about RW. If last year in one week notice they manage to get FNM instead of the Foos, they'll handle it even if PJ did bolt. eventually it will be sold out or close to be sold out (I think the only day in recent years that didn't sold out was last year's Friday). The annoying thing for me is that I want to do a festival the weekend before or after Glastonbury and I need to get my accommodation set ASAP so I need to know which festival I go and so far RW isn't that good for my taste but its too early to know (Pearl Jam announcement will make it perfect again :P)

I'm still holding out for a possible FF announcement. It would make sense with the delay and usually we'll hear something from Glasto, even if it's just one confirmation. The new year with nothing is quite rare, I guess there is still a few days to announce.

Oh god...YES please !! But as Barn headliner. Trent at Main Stage in 2009 before Metallica wasn't what I love about NIN. And I love both NIN and 'Tallica

I agree that playing before Metallica with stupid Metallica fans in front of the stage wasin't ideal, but I still thought he was fantastic.....one of my all time favorite artist :)

I love Trent and NIN music with all my heart, been a fan since 1999 :) Prior to RW 2009 show I saw him in Poland and it was one of THE BEST gigs I've ever been to :)

Now (judging by the  2014 tour) he doesn't have that much energy as he used to. But still - a MUST to see.

RW have updated fb page pic wishing everyone happy holidays. Guess that's them closed until New Year.

I would say after their manager said no in Q&A to RW and then their early leak of Bonnaroo next year it's likely they'll be in the US over that weekend. Not a lot of others option who it could be.

So who to replace Pearl Jam on thursday ? Guns'N'Roses ? Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band ? AC/DC ? Let's take the bets !

I'd bet on Guns'N'Roses subbed by Stereophonics.

I also bet on guns n roses...Or maybe radiohead (better for me)

Assuming an announcement tomorrow is out of the question? Both Springsteen and GnR good options for me but part of me thinks it might be a little while before a Thursday header is announced.

Have a happy new year guys! Heres to the weekend of 2016 i'll spend in a field drinking warm Jupiler :D

What do you think about The Cure for thursday?

they'll finish the u.s. Tour on 26 june, then they'll be in finland on the 7 of july...

is there the possibility to see them at werchter? For me it would be a dream (i already have the ticket for their show in october in bologna :) )

If PJ have cancelled their European dates, I can't see it being any of the recently mentioned bands:

- Guns 'n' Roses: very likely doing a separate show at the Graspop fields

- Bruce Springsteen: a European festival tour with the E Street Band seems unlikely based on what I've heard from big fans + TW Classic still needs a headliner (in case he tours)

- AC/DC: already got a Belgian show

- The Cure: seems unlikely to me with those Autumn arena dates

- Coldplay: a festival show on 30 June doesn't quite fit into their tour plans

My guess is that it'll be a totally new band (or at least one that hasn't been mentioned here for quite a while). In the case that PJ cancelled their dates, RW isn't the only major festival suddenly lacking a huge headliner. So I can imagine that those festivals work together (possibly with others lacking headliners) to bring back another band who originally wasn't planning on touring early this Summer. In the same way RW worked with Eurockéennes and Glasto to announce QOTSA in 2011 (when the lineup was already 2/3 complete), this after Josh Homme claimed several times that they had no intentions of doing festivals.

I think you're probably right. I might be wrong, but I am I right in thinking they didn't announce Mumfords until quite late last year? It could very easily be someone we haven't even considered. All in all I don't really mind waiting for a headliner as long as we get some sizeable names announced in the next couple of weeks. I think if Biffy, Slaves or Tenacious D were confirmed in the next wave it would be enough to convince me to get my ticket :)

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
    • Yup and they aren't cheap   Glastonbury is different though, it's a place that will pack out for rarities they don't usually see. Download strictly speaking shouldn't be the strangest place for Avril to pop up of she had been a touring artist of longer times over the years.   Avril and GC would get the same billing for me and GC are selling arenas out quicker than Avril sold Ally Pally. Bearing in mind she'd pnly done soem Brixton dates before.
    • Avril gets above GC on rarity (see Cypress Hill this year). She drew in something like 70,000 at Glastonbury, so much so that they had to close the field off. I’d wager that she would get the biggest crowd of the entire weekend if she was to play DL.
