Is the 'big centre' monitoring station run purely on human visual observation, or are there IT programs involved, do you know?

As someone that’s worked in it there are a few people looking at the large numbers of screens with 100’s of cameras located all over the site. It is a real eye opener how close and clear they can get images.

Do you know if they use crowd control algorithms pre festival, in their preparation ie. use projected crowd control models?

It sounds like they would usually share their work at other jobs, perhaps there is stuff going on in the background, and new cameras being added in new areas? Pfft I wish!

security cams not Glasto cams I think 😞 good spot though

I would have thought so. Although I have been in the control hub my time is predominantly spent in the ambulance/first responders control, sorry.

Gosh really am missing that camera. This must be the longest it's been off? tbf I don't really blame them, might just be nice to get some privacy!

Not posted here in a long time, but just stopping by to mention how much I miss the webcam. I have it bookmarked on my work laptop as something to look at during particularly boring meetings.

Shame it was paused on such a miserable drizzly day. The sunny weather today prompted me to check in during a dull afternoon call, before I remembered it's been switched off for ages, and I was presented with that dreary view from January instead.

Look at the link to the best shots on the web cam and you’ll get images like this

Nice pics, we will be down next month hopefully. Usually take the public footpath through the woods past the tithe barn for some views of the site, and then a wander round the lanes and then a meal in the crown.

Not sure when the Google Maps imagery updated, but it looks like they've started the build if anyone needs a fix.

Thanks - not a huge amount going on in the current imagery, but it's still interesting and nostalgic to see any festival build going on.  The current imagery is from the 29th April last year btw, so the build was just about to start ramping up.

Note on the webcam website; With no event until 2027, and to respect the privacy of the farm, we’ve switched off the live BBC Glastonbury Webcam for the time being. Instead, you can explore beautiful archive shots of the farm. See you next year.

Hopefully a year untill the next one prompts them to turn in back on in late June

    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
